ASSOCIATED PRESS JUMPS THE GUN ON CONCESSION SPEECH

FITSNews - June 3, 2008 - In all fairness to the Associated Press, they’re not clairvoyant like we are.

Which is perhaps the reason they ran a report this morning saying that Hillary Clinton was going to concede the Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama tonight … which would have been a big story. Well, had it been true, anyway.

From the New York Times “Caucus” blog:

In another sign of just how bedeviled the Clinton campaign continues to be, it spent this morning frantically trying to keep news organizations from following an Associated Press report that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede tonight that Barack Obama has enough delegates to claim the nomination.

The Associated Press posted its report at around 11 a.m., prompting an immediate round of blog posts and “breaking news” banners on cable focused on the report’s lead that “Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation’s first female president.”

Within 20 minutes, the Clinton campaign had responded with this statement: “The AP story is incorrect. Senator Clinton will not concede the nomination this evening.”

In related news, we plan on conceding tonight … that we don’t watch cable news.

Honestly, does anybody who isn’t directly employed by one of the presidential campaigns watch that crap? Now, if they had put this “breaking news” banner on Salem during one of Steve “Patch” Johnson’s scorching love scenes, that’d be another story …

Well, I for one don’t want Hillary to concede. Call it denial. I’m a little pissed at the Democrats methodology to going about naming a candidate. Why did I even bother voting in the primary? Because as of this point my vote meant nothing. The nominee will be chosen by the Supers not the people nor the will of the people. And to me, that just, well, SUCKS. I was raised, um sorry grandma, I know crops are raised, children are bred - I was bred in the South and recognize that there will be Hillary supporters that vote for McCain over Obama. I’m a Democrat and I will. Just goes to show you how very divisive this race is. I don’t even like John McCain but I hate him less than the BIG O.

I don’t want her to concede OR to accept a VP slot, because then I couldn’t vote for her. I wouldn’t trust Obama to run a Bingo game.
