Cooper’s Cut And Run
SNATCHING TAXPAYER DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY
FITSNews - May 30, 2008 - A strange thing happened on the floor of the S.C. House of Representatives yesterday afternoon … the taxpayers were actually winning a fight or two. Three fights, as a matter of fact … in a row.
Of course, God forbid South Carolina lawmakers actually exercise a little fiscal discipline, because that would make too much sense … which is why riding to the rescue of all the panicked, waste-mongering special interests who were literally crapping themselves out in the lobby was House Ways & Means Chairman Dan Cooper - the chamber’s arch-defender of big government.
Recognizing immediately that things weren’t going his way (i.e. money being saved, not spent), Cooper moved to adjourn debate for the week - which would buy him the time needed to twist enough arms to get the gravy train flowing again. Cooper’s motion passed by five votes, with a predictable cast of RINO’s joining the vast majority of Democrats in putting the brakes on this rare display of taxpayer protection.
Oh well, good things never seem to last in politics … particularly not in this ass-backward state.

I have never seen such balls (actually complete sick arrogance) by the House “leadership” than this year. Suprising, too in an election year when their fellow legislators are facing opposition. Harrell, Cooper, Merrill and Cato…WTF? They are all on that lucrative gravy train. Money always trumps. This is truly the worst group imaginable to be leading the “Republican” controlled House. It has been an absolute CLUSTER since they started calling the shots. Collectively, they have not an ounce of integrity but are full of corrupt egotism. Coup!
