UPSTATE REPRESENTATIVE GETS OUR FIRST “UNDORSEMENT”

FITSNews - May 27, 2008 - For those of you who don’t know what an “undorsement” is, it’s the exact opposite of an endorsement. Basically, it means that if forced to choose between a particular candidate and an inanimate object, like a rock, you’d be better off voting for the rock.

Based on the anti-performance of the S.C. General Assembly over the past few years, we’ll probably be handing out a lot of these “undorsements” over the next few weeks, but our first is reserved for an overtly-racist, faux reformer, faux Republican named Bill Sandifer.

If you had to put everything that’s wrong with the South Carolina’s “legislative leadership” into a picture, then Sandifer’s face (above ) is what you’d find staring back at you. He’s dumb, he’s petty, he’s corrupt and he’s totally owned by special interests, and on top of that his voting record is slightly to the left of a left hand turn.

Given his vulnerabilities, Sandifer is one of the leaders of the so-called “Reform Caucus,” a comically-absurd effort designed to fool voters into thinking that the preeminent defenders of waste, inefficiency and corruption in the General Assembly are really all about change.

In fact, here’s an excerpt from the strategy memo that created Sandifer’s little group of deformers …

… this looks to be a terrible year to be an incumbent, as the voters appear to want change. They will be looking for “reformers.”

To combat both (Gov. Mark) Sanford and the “change environment”, the legislature needs to create a “reform” image for itself …

Ahh … nothing like honesty, is there?

Anyway, we don’t know much about Sandifer’s opponent Ed Rumsey, other than the fact he’s a former Air Force pilot and retired small businessman.

Rumsey was also one of almost two dozen challengers who signed a recent Common Sense Contract, which means he’s at least moving in the right direction when it comes to supporting real reforms aimed at fixing our tragically ass-backward state.

Again, though, Rumsey could be a rock - or a petrified dinosaur turd - and still be preferable to Sandifer.

anyone who signs a contract is a moron…aren’t people elected to make tough decisions and if they choose not to vote them out next time??…If you have to sign a contract to sell me on your intentions, then why would I vote for you…vote for the best candidate and who you think best represents your interest…contracts, regardless of what kind are gimmicks at best. However, I may agree w/ your assesment that it’s time for “Wild Bill” to join the retired General Assembly crowd.

Why doesn’t this public official fire back a letter to you disagreeing
with you for calling him a big spending liberal bigot and cite examples of his conservative fiscally responsible legislation?

of course, Sic Willie could be 100% right ….

The contract, written by Tom Davis…where did I hear this before? Oh, it must have been in that strategy document you wrote. Take credit where credit’s due, big boy.

Or …. Just Maybe…. Willie has his own agenda, but lacks the guts to put his name in the public light because he would rather criticize than actually do something productive…. It is very easy to play “arm-chair quarterback”

AMAZING!!!

And the notion that Sic Willie lacks the guys to put his name in the public light is laughable.

He is an attention whore of the first order.

Note to “Who Cares:” I hate to quibble with your assertion that Mr. Willie shies away from publicity, but let me direct you here to prove otherwise:

Even if there is an agenda of sic willie, it doesn’t masked the truth of his word. Sandifer is definately one of the spoiled apples (being nice) of the general assembly. His time is up!

Sounds good to me, now that you have your first ‘undorsement’ you should go after your first endorsement. I have a challenge, for your first endorsement, find someone who is actually republican and a good guy in the Senate. You can interpret this however you want, but I want to see who you support.

Smart Kid,

That’s a tall order … we’ll see if we can find any …
