The Alleged Illegals Are Still Here
CONTRACTOR STILL SILENT ON THEIR STATUS
FITSNews - May 20, 2008 - Remember those alleged illegal aliens who created such a hullabalo last week by working on the S.C. State House steps while politicians inside debated immigration reform? Well, they were back on the job again today.
In fact, dozens of lawmakers walked right past the trio of laborers on their way out of the building this afternoon, prompting FITSNews to once again make inquiries with the workers’ parent company regarding their legal status.
Again, we’ve got nothing against illegal immigrants. They keep our tourism economy rolling and can make a mean chimie chonga. They also listen to rockin’ salsa music and can “dance the forbidden dance” to it, too. Anyway, here are a couple updated pics of these guys … and we’ll be sure to let you know when (and if) their employers cough up the green cards …

25 to 30% of all prisoners in our jails are illegal immigrants—Maybe the Ass-embly is porking out more of our money to fund the cost of housing, feeding, entertaining, and guarding the 1 in 4 prisoners that don’t belong here!

Does anyone else find this whole line of enquiry offensive? Several blogs, including Sen Kevin Bryant’s, have simply put 2 and 2 together to get 174. Just because these people are Hispanic, must they be illegal immigrants? Or are we just that obsessed with fishing for a scandal?

Why don’t we have our Legislature and the illegal immigrants switch places- let the legislators do the manual work outside and let the illegal immigrants start making our laws and balancing our budget.
I bet the illegals know how to scrimp and balance a budget better than the rhinos we have in office.

Tiz- I don’t believe that statistic at all. Show me some proof.
Sayit- I also don’t believe most of your points. Affirmative action has nothing to do with the amnesty debate, to start with. As far as assimilation goes, Mexico does not have an alien culture to us (and we’re certainly not alien to them); immigrants are assimilating faster, not slower, at this point. Also, as of now, illegal immigrants pay more in taxes than they receive in benefits (http://www.reason.org/commentaries/dalmia_20060501.shtml).
It might also be worth noting that there’s an estimated 6 million unemployed people here in the US, and about 12 million illegal immigrants. If they all lost their jobs/ were deported, that would leave at least 3 or 4 million jobs unfilled, decimating our economy (as Will has suggested).

People just like to talk, why do you think they got into politics. Anyway just because a person is here that belongs to another country does not make them a bad person. Many of the people that do those kinds of jobs didn’t have the same oppertunities in their country that most Americans do!
