“Nailed” Is Not Going So Well, Pt. II
ON-SET DRAMA, WALKOFFS, MONEY WOES, STATE COMPLAINTS FRUSTRATE FILMING
FITSNews – May 12, 2008 – Ever since Director David O. Russell brought his political comedy “Nailed” to South Carolina for filming, the production has been only slightly less-plagued than Old Testament Egypt.
Whether it’s on-set tantrums, actors walking off, financial difficulties or – most recently – angry South Carolina government employees, “Nailed” is quickly turning into a case study of ”How NOT to make a movie.”
According to our source on the set, the filmmakers have run into trouble twice with state employees – once over the alleged “trashing” of an office on the State House grounds and a second time over a sex scene that state officials refused to allow the crew to shoot on state property. “For the sex scene, they were asked to recreate the office setting off of State House grounds,” our source says. “They even took a doorknob off one of the doors to make sure everything was consistent.”
Shooting was also delayed after an unidentified state employee working in the Calhoun office building complained that the crew had ”trashed” her office.
“That cost them a day of filming,” our source says. “This woman was writing letters to the Film Commission and raising all sorts of hell, but to say that her office was ‘trashed’ is stretching it. The crew left a window open which caused some papers to get blown around, but that was all that happened. They did all they could to make it right with her but she wasn’t hearing it.”
Phone calls to the S.C. Film Commission regarding the incident were not immediately returned, but sources tell FITSNews that the woman works on the fifth floor of the building, which has stood on the State House grounds since 1927 and houses the S.C. Supreme Court’s Office of Disciplinary Council, among other government offices.
“Nailed,” which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, is reportedly set to resume filming as soon as its financial situation stabilizes. Â

Didn’t know they were in the Calhoun building? Find it hard to believe the crew trashed it.

Were Jake, Jessica and the other actors still in SC over the weekend or did they have a long holiday for mothers day ?
It must be hard to keep your cool when it comes to working with Daivd O Russell even the crew I hope they didn,t trash the state offices as it’s being reported

this is such fabrication. the office was NEVER trashed. it was so minor that it was just petty. they (the crew) have been very respectful and nice — and there was never a sex scene here nor was there almost one. there have been financial difficulties, but they are being resolved — or at least that’s what we have heard. i hope it keeps on!!

How could they tell the trash left by the film crew from the lying sacks of sh** that sit in the ODC offices? Just asking.

It was not a pleasant experience to be an extra for this director. Attitudes were terrible on Saturday, 6-7. I feel like a lot of it had to do with the director. My daughter waited 5 hours (1 which she slept) doing nothing and she is 7yrs old. She work 12 and 13 hrs 3 days in a row until 1am the last night. It seemed like they could have used the girls and shot those scenes while the young girls were there. And you couldn’t leave early or you didn’t get paid. The crew was very very excellent except for wardrobe. Some of those people need a reality check. They have their nose really stuck in the air.

My daughter was an extra and loved it. She said everyone was nice to her, including the actors. I agree they wasted alot of time having the girls sit around for hours on end doing nothing but it was an experience she will never forget. I just hope the movie comes out, even if just on video, so we can have a red carptet event at our house!
