FITSNews Exclusive – A “GOP” Consultant?
TOMPKINS DISSES REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER TO LOURIE AT DEMOCRATIC SENATOR’S REQUEST
FITSNews – April 30, 2008 – Yup, that’s “pond scum” in the picture above, which sort of summarizes our thoughts on veteran “GOP” consultant Warren Tompkins.
When Tompkins isn’t repping flip-flopping presidential candidates, ambulance chasing TV lawyers, corrupt Supreme Court justices, toxic pollutors or the worst academic testing system in America, he’s helping elect a bunch of fake Republicans to the General Assembly.
Of course, the latest tale of Tompkins allegiance to the status quo and its special interest backers will blow your mind …
According to our sources, it all started when State Sen. John Courson – who might as well be a member of the Senate Democratic Caucus – showed up at the State Republican Party’s offices shortly after the close of the legislative filing period a month ago.
Apparently, Courson caught a glimpse of a secret SCGOP spreadsheet showing which Republican consultants were managing which campaigns – and noted that Tompkins was listed as the “consultant of record” for the campaign of Republican Stephen M. King, who is challenging State Sen. Joel Lourie, a Democrat, in the November general election.
Presumably right after leaving the SCGOP office, Courson called up Lourie and asked him if he knew that Tompkins was running a Republican against him, because feeding information like that to Democrats is pretty much what Republican Senators do in South Carolina.
Armed with this information, Lourie placed a call to Tompkins – who denied that his firm was involved in the race and pinned the blame for the spreadsheet’s designation on one of his underlings.
Of course it does. Throwing his underlings – and prospective political clients, for that matter – “under the bus” is one way Tompkins preserves his expansive list of liberal special interest lobbying clients.
The truth is that up until the moment Lourie caught wind of Tompkins’ involvement, his firm was actively soliciting King as a client.
After Lourie’s call to Tompkins?
Yeah, King got kicked to the curb. Stonewalled. Dropped like a bad habit.
In fact, after being ignored by Tompkins’ firm for three weeks after Lourie’s phone call, King was told by Tompkins’ underling Wes Donehue to seek out the services of another decidedly non-Republican “Republican” consultant, Rod Shealy.
Apparently there’s a referral network between these two firms we didn’t know about …
The bottom line?
Well, it’s sort of like we’ve been saying for awhile now … Republicans in this state just aren’t what they say they are.

Why haven’t you come out with the story about the trooper and the Senator/lawyer? I think his name is Hutto. Is this not a story?
The way the news reported, it is a case where Sen. Hutto and a trooper worked on getting a bunch of drunks who were caught DUI, off the hook.
The tickets were signed not guilty by the trooper. The same trooper each time, and the same lawyer (Sen. Hutto) each time. What a coincidence.

Hutto doesn’t have to worry about his law license. As long as he is in the legislature and supports Jean Toal’s goals and candidates, he doesn’t have to worry about her completely discretionary and secret attorney disciplinary system.

Pete, you’re not trying to (hic!) suggest that Justice Toal (screech of metal) is fit to judge people (running up the sidewalk before the cops catch me in my car) – are you?
