ITALIAN PORN STAR CAMPAIGNS TO “TURN ON THE RED LIGHT” NEXT TO VATICAN

FITSNews - April 13, 2008 - Italian porn star Milly D’Abbraccio is running for City Hall in Rome, using nude campaign posters and promising to create a “red light district” just minutes away from the spiritual epicenter of Roman Catholicism. D’Abbraccio, who is running as a Socialist, told Reuters recently that “people don’t want to see these politicians’ faces anymore.” She then proclaimed, “I am the derriere of the Socialist party.”

D’Abbraccio’s campaign centers around the creation of “Love City,” a collection of sex shops, strip clubs and erotic discos similar to those found in Amsterdam’s red light district. The only problem? “Love City” would be located right around the corner from Vatican City, and D’Abbraccio’s promise that her new pleasure zone would be “cute, clean - nothing to do with prostitution” probably isn’t swaying Pope Benedict & Company.

Amazingly, D’Abbraccio wouldn’t be the first Italian porn star to hold public office if she’s elected. Ilona Staller, a Hungarian-born porn star known as “Cicciolina” to her Italian fans, became the first hardcore performer to serve in a Democratic government when she was elected to the Italian parliament in 1987.
