FLORIDA, GEORGIA PASS NEW PRO-GUN LAWS
FITSNews – April 10, 2008 – First of all, Clive Owen is ridonkulously hot. Seriously, people. Even at the end of Inside Man when you know good and well he hasn’t showered in like a week, you still can’t help but want to do bad things to him.
Anyway, as much as we’d like to dwell on that thought, the title of Owen’s latest film Shoot ‘Em Up seemed appropriate today given the rat-a-tat-tat of gun-related stories. First we have Florida, which has passed a “Take Your Guns To Work” law. Not to be outdone, Georgia passed a new law yesterday that allows concealed weapon permit (CWP) holders to take their guns to public parking lots, state parks and historical sites.
Wait, historical sites? Like our man Charlton Heston, we’re all for the Second Amendment, but unless Confederate reenactors have suddenly decided to start playing with live ammo, we’re not aware of a compelling need to pack heat during a history lesson.
Unless of course your tour guide is a cultural revisionist attempting to apply the morals and social norms of today to yesteryear, in which case we’re pretty sure it’s legal to bust a cap in their ass …

If the 2nd Amendment in fact gives individuals the right to own their firearm of choice (keep…arms) does it not also confer the right to carry them wherever they like (bear arms)? Does anyone really want this result?
Disclaimer: Crooner owns no firearms because he doesn’t want to be tempted to kill offending motorists, his children, or be killed by his children.

Actually, the Second Amendment doesn’t grant any rights. None of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights does. In fact, the Founders nearly didn’t draft a “Bill of Rights” because they considered the rights ultimately enshrined therein so obviously inherent in every citizen that writing them down would be superfluous – and perhaps even invite the government to limit rights by narrowly construing those written down (which is why the 10th Amendment spells out the case for all rights and powers not specifically mentioned.)
What the Second Amendment is intended to do is to protect a PRE-EXISTING right. That’s right, take away the Second Amendment. Take away the Constitution. The Founders would say even if both were somehow magically repealed, you would still have an inherent right to keep and bear arms.
That’s why the Second Amendment doesn’t say anything about “creating” a right, but does say that the right (which already exists) “shall not be infringed”.
That said, some people probably should not have firearms: Thos who are tempted to kill offending motorist, their children or who are afraid their children might kill them. Those people pretty much know who they are. For the rest of us, those who wish to use firearms to defend their children, or to teach their children how to defend themselves, the right to bear arms is but one more tool against government infringement of individual rights.

Because one never knows when a crazy man or a terrorist or a criminal will strike, there is a compelling need to carry everywhere.
I take Crooner at his word. While I disdain someone who can’t control themselves, If he thinks himself out of control, he should not give himself the ability to magnify his mistakes.
I take responsibility to defend myself, my family, and those around me by carrying wherever I can legally (and sometimes illegally). I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.

I would rather be laid by 72 than judged by 12.

. Please note:
1] According to the Framers of the Constitution, rights predate government. Accordingly, governments do not and cannot grant rights. They can merely enumerate, guarantee, or deny rights to the individual.
2] States do not have rights. States have powers and responsibilities, certainly; but not rights. In reading the 10th Amendment, one notes that the founders made a very clear distinction between “the States†and “the peopleâ€.
3] The words “the people†are specifically mentioned five (5) times in the Bill of Rights. It defies belief for anyone to claim “the people†in the 2nd Amendment are somehow not the same “the people†enumerated in the 1st, 4th, 9th, and 10th Amendments to the Constitution.
4] Since the definition of “infringed†is the same today as it was in the 18th century when the Bill of Rights was ratified, one must wonder what part of “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed†remains unclear, even to lawyers?
A right, akin to breathing, requires neither acceptance nor permission to exist. It exist, and is often most evident, while being violated.

Clive Owen is hot? Was this article written by a chick or a fag? Given that the “About” page references George Michael, I am going with fag.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. Fags like guns too. http://www.pinkpistols.com/

I hate to say it like this but nobody seems to get it. Im a hunter, I love my guns, knives and bows. Gangsters aquired their guns and ammunition from anywhere that they can. Registered? I highly dought it or murder would be a closed case these days. They got them illegaly now… and dont give a shit about the law. What will stop them in the future? The law? haha. What good will it do for “Gun control,” to come in and take my guns and ammunition away? All they are doing is taking away the freedom of the second amendment that our vetrans fought so hard to obtain. As much as i dont want this law passed I cant wait to see that state troopers face when he shows up at my front door for my guns and finds himself staring down the hollow steel barrel of a 12 gauge. Priceless…. seriously people what is next, taking away the freedom of speech? you might as well take the flag down and shit on it. Criminals are just that… criminals. Dont punish the people that obay the law. Why dont you make alcohol and tabacco illegal in the U.S.? Kids do it illegally you might as well ban it for all of us because they dont follow the rules.

Oh ya, another key point. Illinois statut says self defense can be used to the same degree as the offender… so… if he breaks into my house with a gun… Am i supposed to jump on his back and stab him with a fork or what. NO! Im gunna shoot his ass. I give respect when respect is desived. The law enforcers diserve respect, but dont take it for granted.
