Hello all,
As a new comer to SC and Columbia and having at least visited 49 of our 50 wonderful US States I must say SC is a wonderful place. Generally people are quite friendly. I do have to agree with those here who see these acts as criminal. The way to stop this kind of criminal activity is to simple gather force, pic the battle and sue these people in Federal court. Thing is it is very dangerous to ones career and also costly so as to put one in the poor house.
I see such great heart in the people of SC on a daily basis but the government is a criminal enterprise and if they ever find me - please be assured they would wine and dine me into their camp. Please do band together - meet ups? - - and pic one of these players to sue in Federal Court - the idea we 'common' people are to weak or stupid to stop a 'voice' vote to hide the greed of our leadership needs to be turned around on them.
I hope you can do it.

Fitsnews,

Doesn't the state constitution give legislators a right to a viva voce vote (roll call recorded by the clerk of the body) on any matter. I know there was another time when Harrell wanted a unanimous voice vote and and i called his ass out on that one! As a former member of the House, i'm apalled at these clowns. Makes me feel justified in calling the emperor naked for 12 long years. Keep up the good work. Hopefully you can last longer than I did.

Its amazing that more Representatives were not told to be unavailable. Its hell when you have to vote in public.

Frankly, I don't think we need to congratulate hardly anyone. The only reason that it was recommitted today was because sunshine was allowed into the process.

Any real congrats should go to those souls who voted for RECONSIDERATION yesterday (Tuesday) and were rebuffed.

But frankly, with so few people required to get a roll call vote, where were the leaders in the House? Leadership would've demanded that they stand up and ask for a roll call vote.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

I know, I know. I've been watching too much HBO's John Adams. It's just so inspiring....until, of course, it goes off...then like most people, the outrage and frustration seems to just fizzle away until the next time the government poos on us.

If life is an event of cycles, isn't it time for another revolution? I'm just sayin'....

Let's congratulate the 58 House members who showed the cojones today to send that stupid bill back to committee. You should list them, FITS. And we should figure out who the 51 members are who voted against that.

That is demoralizing. What's the solution? I did write my senator and representative, following Cindi Ross Scope's column.
