Say “Not” To Knotts?

WHAT’S NEXT, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY?

FITSNews - April 3, 2008 - We like to think we’re South Carolina’s resident “Wayne’s World” experts here at FITSNews. Like the time we called out the Michigan marching band for violating the sacred “No Stairway to Heaven” commandment, for example, which resulted in a visceral response from one of the band’s tuba players.

Unfortunately, it looks like the S.C. Club for Growth is attempting to strip us of our “Kings of Schwing” mantle by using a little “Wayne’s World” lingo in this mailing against S.C. Senator Jake Knotts:

knotts not full size

The mail piece, which the Club says was sent to “thousands of likely Republican primary voters” in Lexington County, urges them to “Say ‘NOT’ to Jake Knotts.” Wait a minute … “Say Not?” That doesn’t sound right. Are they sure that’s what they wanted to say?

“Yeah, totally,” said Matt Moore, the Club’s S.C. director. “It’s a play on words, ‘Say No to RINOs, say Not to Jake Knotts.’”

Moore denied that Wayne’s World was the impetus behind the mail piece, however. He also refused to answer questions about Michigan’s marching band or give an opinion as to whether or not the entire state of Michigan is retarded.

I just saw this one :

“Michigan Is Retarded January 16, 2008

4. About the Pimp - January 16, 2008

Romney is a politico giggolo. His pillow-talk morphs with whatever voter he’s trying to coo at the moment. And, why should anyone assume that a successful businessman translates into a successful president? That’s really lame logic.”

…………………..

Just ask the folks at The State, i.e., the folks at Brad Warthen’s blog…

Who won the poll of which Republican Presidential Candidate they would rather be stranded on a deserted island with?

Retarded? NOT! Lame? Ummm. Definitely NOT!

The problem with mail like this is negative hits rarely work against entrenched local incumbents. Too many people in the district know the guy personally. What it will likely do is get a bunch of folks all ticked off to put up signs and turn out at the polls for Knotts. Those folks voted against Sanford, and they’ll now be motivated to turn out again. You guys needs a constituent service type hit mail to score some real points. Find a rebel flag flying grandma who Knotts ignored, and you can do some real damage in that district.
