Sic Willie’s In The Wall Street Journal
OUR FAVORITE BAD BOY DISCUSSES MARK SANFORD’S VICE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN
FITSNews - March 29, 2008 - Let’s be honest people, S.C. Governor Mark Sanford is absolutely, positively, 100% campaigning for the Republican Vice Presidential nomination. In fact, he’s doing it like his life depended on it.
Sure, Sanford is telling anyone who will listen that he’s not devoting any energy to the quest, but the truth is you could probably power the Eastern Seaboard with this guy’s ambition to be John McCain’s No 2 guy.
Of course as we reported last month, a key political miscalculation by Sanford consultant Jon Lerner probably cost him his shot, a theory the governor basically admitted was true in this morning’s Wall Street Journal:
Shortly after Mr. Sanford was re-elected governor in 2006, the McCain campaign began seeking his support for 2008. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), who is close with both men, led the effort. McCain supporters were optimistic.
But the endorsement never came. In the spring of 2007, Mr. Sanford says he told the campaign he would not be offering his official support.
Some speculated that Mr. Sanford was watching former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and hoping for a spot on his ticket if Mr. Giuliani won the nomination.
In an interview, Mr. Sanford didn’t deny the Giuliani calculation but instead noted his schedule already was busy with his second gubernatorial term, his commitment to serve in the Air Force reserves and four young sons at home. “You do not have an unlimited number of hours,” he said.
That’s true, unless of course you own a time-traveling DeLorean. In which case you do have an unlimited number of hours. Oh, the Journal story also quoted our own Sic Willie as saying that Sanford had “missed his opportunity.” Apparently, they cut a comma and the word “dawg” out of his quote, though, because we distinctly remember him telling the reporter “he missed his opportunity, dawg.” Oh well.

We went back to our archives to try and find sic(k) willie mentioned in the Wall Street Journal, but our dogs pee’d on that sention.
We’re not sure if it was a random event or if they were targeting sic(k) willie or the gub’ner. Makes no difference. Dog pee is appropriate for any article that mentions both sic(k) willie and the gub’ner.

I wonder how much money has been spent on Sanford race for the VP’s slot?
State taxpayer money?
Money raised for non-profits that was supposes to be used for “voter education”?
Sanford campaign money that was raised for a STATE race, not a federal one?
Courting journalist and think tanks is expensive and time consuming…it just does not happen on its own. Someone is paying the Governor’s bills, and as a taxpayer I would like to know who?

When the “media” starts reporting on itself, it’s lost proper focus.

Is it just me, or am I the only one who doubts very seriously whether BIN actually reads the WSJ?

Well, then, Congressman Sanford voted against the first Gulf War. Further, Sanford’s Air Force Reserve service is a ruse.
Looks like no VP slot given the above. And if he is the VP, count this vote for Obama.

Congressman Sanford voted against the First Gulf War?
In 1990?
Before he was first elected to Congress in 1994?
Do you remember?

Well why wouldn’t McCain pick Sanford, the gov. did help hand deliver S.C. to McCain - oh wait…
I think Lindsey Graham (who actually supported McCain) throughout, was right in his assertion recently that no one from S.C. will be getting the VP nod, and with good reason, who could it possible help out electorally (in the repub. party) to pick an S.C. V.P. candidate?
