I can not believe you, called us stupid. I found this site looking for something else, but this really upset me that someone so stupid that they didn’t know that Kershaw was in Lancaster county, would call me STUPID. Please get a LIFE…………..If you’re gonna talk about a state learn the FACTS.

Au contraire. Up until the early 1970’s, the Town of Kershaw was split between Lancaster County and Kershaw County. Town Hall was in Kershaw County but the Springs Cotton Mill building was in Lancaster County. When Lancaster County decided to build a new high school in the area but Kershaw County would not, a large area around the town left Kershaw County and annexed into Lancaster County. The citizens decided to leave the name of the town as it always was after deciding to move the county line.

Granted it is confusing but I guess that old saying is true about South Carolina: too small to be a republic, too large to be an asylum.

Kershaw was in Kershaw County until about 15 years ago when the citizens of Kershaw decided they had more in common with Lancaster County and voted to move the town from Kershaw to Lancaster County.

Perhaps you is so stupid not to research your trip before you spent your precious 3.38 per gallon. The very first result in a Google search for “kershaw, sc” returns a site that states clearly that “Kershaw is located in Lancaster County.” Hopefully you will not try to grace us with your presence again.

I seem to recall that Kershaw was in Kershaw County until about 20 years ago when some local squabble caused them to “secede” from their namesake county. Do we have a problem in SC with secession?
