What’s Effed Up In S.C. Today?

LET’S SEE … PORT ROYAL, PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE, PROPERTY TAXES …

FITSNews - March 24, 2008 - It may be tricky to “rock a rhyme that’s right on time,” but it’s definitely not tricky finding stuff that’s effed up about the not-so-great state of South Carolina

PORT OF PORT ROYAL - In early 2004, the S.C. legislature passed (and Gov. Mark Sanford signed) a law directing our ass-backward State Ports Authority to sell the Port of Port Royal, a small non-container facility in Beaufort County that was losing money each year. Four years later, the numbnuts in charge of our state’s ports still haven’t gotten the job done. Ordinarily, we’d accuse these idiots of dragging their feet, but in this case it’s more like they’re dragging their knuckles … again.

PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE IS RACIST - We’ve heard time and time again from educrat idiots that school choice is dangerous because it would lead to the “re-segregation” of South Carolina schools. Well, according to this morning’s La Socialista, the so-called “public school choice” program in Kershaw County is doing that already. Way to go, public education!

TAX SHIFTS DON’T HELP BUSINESSES - We know S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell is running for governor on the big “property tax cut” he pushed through two years ago, but as we’ve said a million times before, raising one tax and lowering another isn’t a “cut,” it’s a shift, people. And it sure looks like Harrell’s shift is having unintended consequences for businesses and owners of second homes. As in unintended tax hikes. This pocket, that pocket … does it really matter which one it comes from with these guys in charge?

All in all, it’s just another day in the most retarded state in the nation, people …

Clearly school choice does lead to re-segregation, then, right? Wouldn’t that be even worse if school choice extended to private schools?

How are the poor rich people ever going to put food on both of their home’s tables with all of these tax hikes? If this doesn’t let up they’ll have to sell one of the boats. But which one? The yacht or the ski boat? It’s a choice nobody should have to make.

GOVERNOR MARK SANFORD LIVES IN OWN MAGICAL WORLD

Palmetto Scoop reports:
“It appears that, rather than dealing with the mess he created when he got involved in the Port Royal deal, the governor has chosen to create an alternate reality where he was the hero”.

“Sanford said he wasn’t surprised that the deal fell through because the developer who won the bidding process was shady; which is, of course, why he went around behind the guy’s back telling that to everyone on the Ports Authority Board. Of course, now that the port sale isn’t going to happen, Sanford can say, “I told you so.” Except, that would completely ignore the possibility that the governor actually bullied the guy out”.

Is “bully” the PC descriptive we use for anyone with business acumen and the guts to prove it? He takes the bull by the horns. I’m ready for him to get a hold of a few legislators. Their horns are really bugging me. And they have no business doing business for the rest of us.

The Goveneloper has a Top Secret plan for the port at Port Royal of which only he and his Bro-n-law aka “hizzoner de mayor” have knowledge. The rest of us are obviously incapable of comprehending such complexities.
