Lawsuit No. 12 For FITSNews?
SIC WILLIE ADVISES CRITIC TO “GET BENT”
FITSNews – March 20, 2008 – Earlier today we received an e-mail from Ross Shealy, who was mentioned in an earlier post today as having violated state lobbying law. Ross evidently didn’t like the fact that we said he violated the law, which we can understand. Of course he probably should have thought about that before he violated the law. Anyway, from his e-mail to us:
I write to demand that you retract, and issue a correction for, this morning’s post on your blog, “FITSnews,” entitled “FITSnews Exclusive – SCASA, Shealy Violate Ethics Law,” which is libelous per se as it incorrectly accuses me of the misdemeanor offense of violating the lobbyist provisions of the South Carolina Code … I will defend my reputation at all costs, including resort to the courts if necessary.
In case you were wondering, we stand by our original story, as Sic Willie noted in his response to Shealy’s threats:
Dear Ross,
I acknowledge receipt of your letter. After consulting with our attorneys, not only do we stand by our story, we would kindly advise you to a) bring it on, and b) get bent.
Sincerely,
W
Actually, after our attorneys reviewed Shealy’s informal complaint this morning, they advised Sic to tell him to “go f - – - himself,” but Sic’s mom reads this website from time to time, and we’re doing our level best not to curse unless it’s absolutely f- -king necessary.
In the event Shealy files a lawsuit against us – which we’re honestly hoping he does given his blatant attempt to infringe upon our First Amendment rights – it will be the twelfth time in the past fifteen months that legal action has either been filed or threatened against FITSNews.
We’re 11-0 so far, people.

…so far. But, wait until the Boys From Charlotte finish.
They seem to have brazillions of dollars in their expense account. With that kind of money and with sic(k) willie’s reputation and background, it’s only a matter of time until wee willie’s record goes to 11-1.

#1- We met the “boys from Charlotte” the other day. The were actually girls, and one was named “Rosie.” You know them quite well, from what we hear.
#2- No doubt about that. An infant could do better than 6-6 in the SEC.
#3- We’re rich, dude.
#4- We will.

the exemptions shealy is likely to claim do not apply in this case, but irrespective of that all fitsnews has to show is that it possessed reasonable proof that shealy was lobbying illegally. if they have newspaper documentation of shealy lobbying a legislator and ethics filings showing shealy had not registered, then this case is over. judging by mr. folks’ admittedly juvenile response, he and his attorneys are hoping for the inevitable counterclaim that would accompany the filing of such a frivilous lawsuit.
