COMPUTER STUDY SAYS GENES, NOT HAMBURGERS TO BLAME FOR OBESITY
FITSNews – March 17, 2008 – In the latest attempt by fat people to eat whatever the hell they want and blame it all on science, a new Icelandic study says that obesity is a result of your genes, not what you eat or the old “big-boned” excuse. From the story:
The second study by researchers from Merck, the Icelandic company deCODE Genetics and the National University, Iceland involved more than 1,000 people known to be susceptible to obesity and then used a powerful computer to match data on genetic makeup, gene use and obesity to identify networks of gene interactions altered in individual susceptible to obesity. A gene expression network constructed from human fat tissue contained a similar core group of genes found to be causally related to obesity in the mouse study.
In a related scientific study conducted by our own Sic Willie, making hourly trips to the Burger King drive-thru is also “casually related to obesity,” as is sitting very still and avoiding all forms of physical exertion.
