Rod’s “Reform” Caucus
THE MASTER IS BACK WITH A BRAND NEW INVENTION
FITSNews - March 13, 2008 - One of the reasons we’ve always respected political consultant Rod Shealy is his effortless command of one of the timeless truisms of political messaging - “the bigger the lie, the easier it is to sell.” Sure, Rod is diabolical and devious, but that’s why people pay him the big bucks. After all, politicians don’t hire mercenaries to design floral arrangements, they hire mercenaries to go to war.
In that vein, FITSNews and The Greenville News are both in possession of a memorandum prepared by Shealy outlining his latest “big lie,” the notion that a bunch of status quo politicians in Columbia who have fought real reform at every step of the way can somehow get away with calling themselves a “Reform Caucus.”
“Reefer Caucus” maybe. Because that’s what you have to be smoking to fall for this crap.
Anyway, we hear the Greenville News is publishing its story on the “Reform” Caucus Sunday, but you can take a look at Shealy’s latest diabolical scheme by clicking on that little “MORE” button …
From the Shealy memo, which FITSNews has confirmed was sent to a select group of anti-reform clients by the master himself:
CONFIDENTIAL, PLEASE.
Attached is a copy of potential future mailer.
I will talk to you later to discuss the strategy behind this.
But, in a nutshell, the legislature gets beat up by the Gov for “blocking reforms”, which the public buys, because he is known as the reformer.
Additionally, this looks to be a terrible year to be an incumbent, as the voters appear to want change. They will be looking for “reformers.”
To combat both Sanford and the “change environment”, the legislature needs to create a “reform” image for itself … separate and apart from Sanford’s efforts.
Therefore, I’m suggesting two steps …
First, the creation of an informal “reform” caucus, which you should become a member of.
Secondly, a “Blueprint for Reform” … which basically would be a legislative-based reform plan.
The draft attached is a starting point.
We’ll talk later.
For his part, Shealy says he’s not behind the effort, telling FITSNews that “I do occasionally have original ideas, but this was not one of them.”
Stay tuned - we’ll publish some additional comments from Shealy concerning this so-called “Reform” Caucus tomorrow.

If there’s ever a “reform” caucus or grouping where members go to jail, you can bet it’ll be this one.
Doesn’t this all go back to when Sanford threw his sister out of her 90K/year job as a Worker’s Comp commissioner, right before she got out of law school as an “advocate” for a worker’s comp law firm in Summerville?
That would be Rod for you.

Is that a squirrel on his chin, or a hedgehog?

Maybe Rod can add these to his so-called “reform†list
Reform #11: Make it a criminal offense to send out third-party campaign mailings by fictitious groups that don’t really exist.
Reform #12: Not allow people to serve on the Worker’s Comp board who have no experience in the field, and prohibit anyone who serves on any state board to work as an attorney, consultant, or have any professional relationship in that involves cases that are under the jurisdiction of that board for five years after leaving that board.
Reform #13: Make it a criminal offense to send out mailings within four days of an election that make false claims about an opponent.
I doubt he’d support these, but I suppose it never hurts to ask.

Rod ramps up for war, well the Gov put his hand in his pocket and do the same, probably not, as I understand it the coalition is dead.

Sounds like building a platform and consensus to get things done. Beats just having a platform and a dictator.
Cut the Sanfraud microchip out of your frontal lobe. Or, better yet, go have a MRI.

Let’s put this in perspective, folks. (No pun intended, this time.)
Rod hired sic(k) willie into the late stages of TRav’s campaign for Treasurer. That speaks volumes.
We’ll skip the cheap shots at TRav. He’s suffered enough. On the other hand let’s get back to sic(k) willie and Rod. willie wrote:
“the bigger the lie, the easier it is to sell.â€
So, willie, are you calling Rod a liar? Don’t you fear his lawyers?

Mark Sanford will not spend moeny on the political races of others when he can use that money to comfort he and his family for the rest of his life.
