Geraldine Ferraro Is Borderline Racist

geraldine ferraro

AND TO OUR SURPRISE, STILL ALIVE

FITSNews – March 12, 2008 – We’ll be honest. We thought former Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro died sometime back in the 19th Century, but apparently not. It turns out Ferraro, who turns 192 this year, brought her 19th Century values “back to the future” earlier this week when she said this about Democratic frontrunner Barack Obama:

If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.

Amazingly, Ferraro is still refusing to apologize for her comments, which she says were taken out of context. That’s funny, of course, because “taken out of context” is such an incredibly creative excuse. Seriously, we’ve never heard that one used before but it’s pretty damn awesome.

We’d also give Ferraro credit for uttering her ass-backward, borderline racist remark at a time when nobody is really paying attention to anything political other than the whole Eliot Spitzer scandal. Kudos to you, crafty woman.

UPDATE – Ferraro has officially left her post on Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Wait … Geraldine Ferraro is still alive? Oh … yeah …

It’s kind of funny that she would say that, seeing as how it was a point of speculation that she was selected on the basis of her gender.

Maybe when it comes to someone whose candidacy is based on something like race or gender, it takes one to know one?

Also, Ferraro is so backward, she doesn’t even know what the internet is. For the first time in her life, she’s being called on these types of remarks. The Mass Media can no longer protect her even if they wanted to – so now the Obama campaign is orchestrating an attack on her and not the new media. She needs to go back into her cave and take Hillary with her.

    From another article at:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/13/us/politics/13ferraro.html?ref=us

Ms. Ferraro, 72, said she had been the victim of a barrage of abusive e-mail and telephone calls in the last few days, organized, she suspects, by Obama operatives. Asked how she knew it was an organized effort, she said, “It was too orchestrated, bang bang bang. Where else could it come from?”

Geraldine Ferraro is 100% accurate with her statement regarding the inexperienced Obama.

But, I also believe that there are way too many chauvinistic men that still believe “A Man” should rule & therefore, they will cast their vote for Barack rather than the experienced Hillary Clinton.

Did anyone watch her interview with Ann Curry last night on NBC? Or are you all relying on the reports and sound bites you’ve been hearing?

Can we not get past the idea that mentioning race, pointing out that race is a factor in this “race” (for good or for bad), without someone screaming RACISM? Racism is defined as “members of one race consider themselves intrinsically superior to members of other races.” Please, someone tell me how Ferraro’s remarks were racist? If you people cannot acknowledge that Obama’s campaign is unique, and that one of the factors making it unique is his race, then I just don’t know what planet you are living on. In fact, Ferraro’s comments are dead-on, because we have every reason to believe that previously-underrepresented classes of people (IOW- non-white males, such as Obama, and Clinton) have a real shot at the highest office in the land, elected by people both like them, and not like them.

Am I saying that Obama’s only appeal is his race? Of course not, and neither was Ferraro. It is obvious to any who have paid any attention to Obama’s campaign that he is wonderfully charismatic and inspiring. But to claim it is not a factor is to deny the facts- for example, that 95 % of black Mississipian democrats voted for him in their primary. If the pundits were looking at this statistic to explain why that was, ANY OTHER factor except race would be politically appropriate to point out. For some reason, race is off-limits, as if by not talking about it, it becomes a non-issue.

So, please tell me, why is RACE a four-letter word? I have an answer for you- because as long as the media and politicians can keep us thinking that race is the unmentionable (that which should not be named), they can machinate and do whatever they want to do, and no one is the wiser….

I’m not saying you will definitely catch the AIDS. I’m just saying that there is like a 95% chance or something. That’s how my cousin Darrell got the AIDS. He moved out to San Francisco and went swimming in a pool with a black. He sure regrets that now.

    Democratic voter preferences:

    Black: Obama 81% Clinton 7%
    White: Clinton 50% Obama 39%

And who are the racists again?

Obama is where he is because of his race to the same extend Bush and Ted Kennedy are where they are because of their family names. They capitalized on the opportunities their family name and wealth provided, but they would not be where they are if they had the name Jones.

Similarly, Obama is a fantastic campaigner and organizer who has made the most of his opening. But that does not change the fact that no one would seriously consider Obama for president if he had the same resume but was white.

I have spoken with more than one Obama supporter who has said something along the lines of “I know you Republicans are scared to know that a black man will be elected”. The words vary a little, but the point is the same.

It’s scary that their campaign stamps such blank racist upon the minds of its followers. Scary indeed.

Sounds a lot like the Nazi Party to me.

I will not support Obama! All this calling people a racist for talking about his race! That is why he is winning in the cacaus states because people are afraid of being called a racist if they do not support obama in public.

The only thing I have to say about this is that if experience is really what mattered, Joe Biden and Chris Dodd would have been jockeying for the top spot. Barack Obama might be inexperienced, but the voters are the ones who are saying they are fine with this at the ballot box. You can’t blame Obama for voters’ behavior.

I wrote more about this nonsense here.

One other point, WHITE voters in Iowa are what got Obama’s campaign off the ground. Blacks weren’t even on board until South Carolina, when the Clintons began race-baiting. So some of this criticism of Obama is a bit unfair.

Black, whites, brown, gay, straight, male, female, young, old, healthy, sick: they all make one America. Everybody has the right to vote for who they want to be the President. We have a system established. Votes are counted/calculated and then winner is announced. There is always someone who is not happy…. it is just the way it is : (

I am a health care provider….diseases like AIDS, Hepatitis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Cancer does not care what color or gender you are. Watch out what you say… you never know what is in store for you.

    #21,

What a bunch of nonsense. There are significant racial and sexual characteristics to many diseases, including the ones you cite. Breast cancer “cares” what gender you are. So does testicular cancer. Heart disease “cares” both what race and sex you are (what a racist, misogynist pig those heart attacks are).
