AND NO LONGER JENNY CRAIG’S SPOKESWOMAN

FITSNews – February 21, 2008 – For reasons defying comprehension, the Jenny Craig Weight Loss program decided Tuesday to ditch Kirstie Allie as the organization’s spokeswoman. Yeah, we couldn’t believe it either. Anyway, from Yahoo! News:

“After lengthy negotiations, regretfully the Jenny Craig Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson,” Alley said in a statement posted on People Magazine’s Web site Tuesday.

Wait a minute, are we spelling “Allie” wrong or is Yahoo! News spelling “Alley” wrong? It’s a ”consuming” question, to be sure, but at the moment we’re more concerned about this woman consuming us than we are with spelling her name correctly. Speaking of grammatical faux pas, though, Alley’s statement also managed to use the term “regretfully” wrong, which our good friends at the Washington State English Department pointed out for us:

Within the body of a sentence, “regretfully” may be used only to describe the manner in which someone does something: “John had to regretfully decline his beloved’s invitation to go hang-gliding because he was terrified of heights.” If no specified person in the sentence is doing the regretting, but the speaker is simply asserting “it is to be regretted,” the word is “regrettably”: “Their boss is regrettably stubborn.”

Or “Kirstie Allie is regrettably fat.” Or better yet, “We regretfully declined Kirstie Alley’s invitation to go hang-gliding because she is regrettably as big as a mountain, and should no more be the spokeswoman for a weight loss program than Richard Simmons should speak on behalf of straight people’s issues.” Oh well, at least Kirstie didn’t say “supposively” or “supposably” in her statement, because those aren’t even words … well, supposedly they’re not. Holy hell English is confusing. Thank God we’ll all be speaking Spanish in a few years.

Leave Kirstie Allie alone. Its hard to lose weight and keep it off. Jenny Craig is a good diet but that is what it is a DIET. Going back to real life and real food you will gain weight. I know been there, done that. Food is an addiction, hello have you been reading and watching the news lately…even young children are grossly obese.

If everyone just exercised (walked) every day and cut out all processed foods and went as close to natural as possible, and ate at least every 2-3 hours to keep the matabolism going, we might, we just might be able to keep our weight the same.

Competition is not a welcome guest in a dieter´s menu. Something went wrong, not with Kirstie´s image, but in her loyalty to a meal plan that is best left on permanent defrost.

Chin up, Kirstie, and start once again from the inside looking OUT!

I would think the company execs of “Jenny Craig” would be trying to HELP Kirstie–dumping her is only kicking their own butts to the curb!!!
Obviously, their “wonderful, miraculous weightloss plan” is a FARCE.
I admire Kirstie’s courage, and I feel her pain! The media’s continuous pressures on today’s women to be “perfect bodies” needs to come to a SCREECHING HALT!!!
I am a registered nurse in Oregon who is exactly Kirstie’s age:
I have spent my whole life battling my weight–and the constant pressure and preoccupation with society to judge us by the size of our waistlines, and not by the strength of our character has gotten totally out-of-HAND!
The emphasis needs to be more on nutrition for HEALTH, and NOT to try to look like a plastic Barbie doll !
My heart and my dedication goes out to Kirstie, who remains a gracious and beautiful actress and woman, in spite of her size!
SHAME on those money-hungry execs of Jenny Craig for deserting her instead of trying to figure our why THEY, not HER, were the FAILURES!

Kirstie Allie lost my sympathy when she demanded via lawyer that a writer be fired for making a (very silly) scientology comment. A sue-happy religious zealot, that’s who I want representing my weight loss system!

I can not even BEGIN to imagine being part of the public’s eye.. I find it so sad and sickening that every inch of their privacy is invaded with gossip hounding paper selling do whatever it takes to get noticed publicists… using whatever tactic regardless how very hurtful and cruel and damaging they are..

I do find it humorous that as soon as Kirtsie showed any problems recurring with her weight problem she gets completely dumped on .. by the press… as well as Jenny Craig… Jenny Craig missed an awesome opportunity… Instead of taking this black eye they could have, they SHOULD have adopted the Mission Statement that there’s no quick fix.. anyone can fall off the “wagon” …but that with their on going sincere support and their plan, weight loss can be reached and maintained..

Kirstie is a very strong, very talented, and a loving mother and she will rise above this… on the other hand Jenny Craig, I think you just may have blown it…

She owes it all to Scientology, also. Before she fell in to the criminal cult she was marginally successful and reasonably sane. Now look at her. Scientolgy not only kills people, they kill careers.

Well, I fell off of the JC bandwagon, and still have the weight on. I’ve tried other diets, just don’t have the time to write everything down and plan it out. I’m going back to JC, and the website is updated, and looks fabulous. Wouldn’t it be great for Kirstie to go back, and to show everyone that Jenny Craig can work the second time or third, etc.?

Scientology kills careers? What rock have you been hiding under? All the high profile Scientologist actors out there have seen their careers hit all time highs after they became involved. I’m not a scientologist or ever plan to be one, but I can accept a fact when I see it. You should learn that skill.

Kirstie needs a stylist not a diet. Sure, most of us could afford to lose a few pounds, but she needs to work w/ what she has. I’d love to see her on What Not to Wear w/ Stacey & Clinton.

A new hairdo, clothes that actually fit her body and are more age appropriate could do wonders for her self esteem.

Look at larger actresses like Queen Latifa who are big yet are really beautiful.

Sure, health is important, but size is not excuse for sloppiness.

How dare anyone call someone fat and illiterate. Kirstie has given us years of laughter and we reward her by belittling her and saying this stuff. I hope someday you are put in that same position and someone does that to you. Shave on you. She is a person and must be highly intelligent and bright. Talking to people like you does not matter. She will always be remembered I doubt you will.

I have never been fat and today at 44 I am still in a very good shape! I have eaten all kind of shit and still people don’t understand how come I have this body! I will tell you why? I have small portions and I do lotsss of sports!

On this she might not move enought for what she eats but it can also be her metabolism or her Menopause, whos knows! I believe people should have respect and the trash magazine don’t comment on this at all.

thank you & good night!

This came back to me for a new comment. I do not care what religion she is …..I do care that she is a beautiful human being and how dare anyone talk smack about her. I have watched her shows laughing and crying with her. Who cares who she has sued unless you have walked in her shoes you have no reason to criticize her. I will always enjoy her as an actress.
You go girl. SHAME ON YOU ALL THE COMMERCIALS, JENNY CRAIG,

By Ann-Marie on April 23rd, 2009 at 2:00 pm

We are not supposed to judge others..period. But as I read the crazy comments most of you do just that. We are all beautiful people no matter what size, shape or color. I agree that we should be healthy. But I also think we should not speak for others unless we have walked in their shoes.
God bless you Kirstie and Good Luck with all!

Kirstie’s plateaus are simply echoes of the true cycle of human life. While we all imagine ourselves most beautiful as thin, nothing could be further from reality, especially once us women hit the fifties. Sure it’s easy to set yourself up for failure and keep adding that extra helping of whatever you love, but when you hit failure after failure without doing anything different from your skinny 20’s, it becomes crystal clear that fat is not something that will automatically fade as soon as you starting eating “better.” It takes months of hard work and rigid discipline.

Kirstie, forgive yourself, and stop hiding. You have nothing to be ashamed of!

Okay. For starters, bad writers should not attempt to edit or criticize someone else’ writing. Illiterate is a term used to describe an individual that cannot read, nor write. Be careful there with your bigoted, opinionated, erroneous statements about another human being of which you clearly know nothing about.
Kirstie’s “deal” with Jenny Craig is known only to herself and the weight loss company. None of us was there. We do not know the specific details and it is ignorant to assume you have the right to judge and condemn.
That being stated, Kirstie Allie is “out there” in the public eye, visible to all. We are not!! It takes courage, and stamina, beyond what you have experienced, to survive and continue in the public eye.
As far as her “religion,” though I do not agree with it – the last I heard – the USA is a country that observes freedom to worship as you please. The celebrities that are members of Scientology are talented with or without the cult.
Keep in mind, also, that maybe these celebrities like Tom Cruise, Kirstie Allie, and John Travolta, do not have full knowledge of the workings of the cult. Celebrities are pandered to and pampered in order to engage their endorsements.
I know firsthand. Please shut your mouth about Kirstie, because you are showing your lack of education, research and knowledge.
She is the only one here on this board that is publicly visible and I have faith that she is here for a reason.
She has something to say and to teach us all.
Shut the front door and listen!!!!!!!!
