AGGREGATING, ADVERTISING … AND ANDIE MACDOWELL?
FITSNews - February 18, 2008 - In yet another example of the “blogification” of political news, this morning’s New York Times has an interesting article about a new “web portal” project called Politicker.com. The multi-million dollar nationwide effort, which is backed by NYC-based Observer Media Group, aims to “pull together 50 Web sites, one for each state, into a political hub.” Each website would then serve as “an intensely local source for political articles, speculation and scandal.” Which doesn’t sound even remotely familiar to us. Anyway, from the Times story:
Most states will be covered by one or two reporters, one editor working on contract from inside the state, and an undetermined number of bloggers. The editors — who will remain anonymous, and will include lawyers, lobbyists and former officeholders — are the “secret sauce.”
First of all, “secret sauce” sounds absolutely delicious. But assuming they find someone to fill that role here in South Carolina, who’s going to be the two all-beef patties? Or the lettuce? Or the cheese? In case you were wondering, we just got off the phone with our agent in Atlanta, and she’s advised us to hold out for the sesame seeds …
