McCain S.C. Communications Guru Staying Put
BJ BOLING PASSES ON NATIONAL CAMPAIGN, REJOINS S.C.-BASEDÂ STARBOARD COMMUNICATIONS
FITSNews – February 18, 2008 – Ordinarily, we could give a rat’s ass which political consultants work at which firms, but every once in awhile a hiring dramatically shifts the balance of this state’s “consultatorial power.” Such is today’s news that former John McCain S.C. Communications Director B.J. Boling (editor’s note: Bjorn Johannson?) has decided to forego Beltway riches and a possible White House gig to return to Lexington, S.C.-based Starboard Communications, where he worked prior to his service with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
“Accepting a job at the national level with the McCain campaign meant moving to Washington,” Boling told FITSNews. “My heart is in South Carolina. I know that by staying here, I can help get good people elected to office who will make our state an even better place to live, to work, and to raise a family.â€
One of the most talented young political minds in the entire nation, Boling impressed us long before his McCain gig – most notably in his work with rising S.C. GOP star Nikki Haley, among other local elected officials. A gifted writer, strategist and experienced media hand, Boling’s hiring is a huge boost to Starboard as it seeks to compete against the “Big Three” establishment outfits run by veteran GOP consultants Richard Quinn, Rod Shealy and Warren Tompkins.
