GIANTS’ WIDE RECEIVER PREDICTS PATRIOTS WILL FALL 23-17 IN SUPER BOWL XLII

FITSNews – January 31, 2008 – Look, we can’t stand the New England Patriots as much as the next person. They’re cocky, condescending, they cheat and above all, they’ve got pretty boy “Poopie” as their quarterback. Okay, okay, we’ll be honest. The real reason we hate the Patriots is because they beat our beloved Colts this year (um, and a lot of other times, too), and to say we’ll be rooting for the New York Giants in Sunday’s Super Bowl XLII is the understatement of the century.

Yet as much as we can’t stand New England, we’ve got to call out Giants’ wide reciever Plaxico Burress for being a complete idiot and predicting his team will hold an offense that’s averaging 36 points a game this year to less than half that total. From the AP:

For the Giants, Plaxico Burress’ guarantee that New York will beat the New England Patriots 23-17 in the Super Bowl Sunday is nothing more than an outspoken player showing confidence. For the Patriots and MVP Tom Brady, it’s a Super-sized diss, and bulletin board material.

“We’re only going to score 17 points?” a surprised Brady said Wednesday. “OK. Is Plax playing defense? I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for scoring more points.”

Oh boy. While we certainly hope Burress is right, New England could probably put Sic Willie in at quarterback and still score 17 points. What the hell, Plax? Remember what happened the last time somebody talked trash to the Patriots prior to a big game? Yeah, they got served.

If I were unfortunate enough to be a Giants fan, I would most certainly expect my starting wide receiver to predict victory in the Super bowl. Unless you’re on the Buffalo Bills, you should believe you’ve got a shot at winning going into the BIG game. Don’t fault the guy for being on the wrong team and not dating Gisele “Only takes Euro $” Bundchen.

    D- uh

I guess that’s why they play the game!!!!!

Poor PLAXICO – he was only wrong in that it was HIS team that only scored 17 points. BUT THEY WON!!!!!!!!!!

    HEHEHEHEHEHEH.

I LOVE experts – ‘What the hell, Plax” – Well…what the ‘hell’ indeed.

I guess it takes more than a nice piece of European tail in the stands to guarantee a victory. Geesh – what’s worse? Plaxico making predictions AND THEN ACTUALLY PLAYING IN THE GAME???? Or, you sitting on your li’l flat butt shooting pop guns at him for his hubris.

But, the beauty is that you and I both predicted the opposite result but have rejoiced in the reality as it happened – Happy Super Bowl!!!!!
