THE ELECTION WAS SATURDAY, CONGRESSMAN

FITSNews – January 22, 2008 – Our bud Jonathan Martin over at The Politico is reporting this morning that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson will endorse John McCain for President at a press conference this afternoon in Columbia, S.C.

You can read Martin’s story by clicking here.

We’re gonna go out on a limb and predict that Wilson’s endorsement isn’t going to do much to sway South Carolina voters, particulary since the election has, um, already happened. Of course if Wilson has a time-traveling DeLorean or something, this could be a huge boost to McCain’s Palmetto State prospects.

We’ve never had a tremendous problem with Joe (sure, his keychain fetish is a little disturbing), but what’s up with his tardiness lately? Just two weeks ago, Wilson showed up late to church and tried to sneak in next to Sic Willie and one of the FITS gals during the morning prayer. Lamentably, we had to direct him to the folding chairs reserved for “latecomers.”

UPDATE – We haven’t been able to confirm this yet, but there’s a rumor going around that Wilson may also endorse John Adams for Vice-President at today’s press conference.

Could this have anything to do with McCain getting well over 50 percent of the Hilton Head — Sun City vote? Nah.
