NICOLE’S BABY, OIL, ROMNEY & MCCAIN SLIPS

FITSNews - January 15, 2008 - Popslut Nicole Richie gave birth to a 6-pound, 7-ounce baby girl Saturday morning, in what we can only assume was the first time a newborn actually outweighed its mother. You know, we’re sorry, people. Seriously. We apologize for that joke. Not because it made fun of Nicole Richie (which we’re all for), but it sounded way too much like something one of those striking Hollywood writers would have penned. And we’re better than that …

PUMP MORE GAS, BITCHES - We shared our views on the international oil situation (no, not the one in Sic Willie’s pants) last week, but for some reason our “attention deficit venting” did nothing to lower prices at the pump. Amazing, we know. Of course, the fact that Saudi Arabia has an extra 2 million barrels of oil sitting around might help, but OPEC insists it will only “raise production when the market justifies it.” Assholes.

ROMNEY’S PHOTO OP - Our friends at The Politico are reporting that a much-publicized Mitt Romney photo op with a so-called “unemployed single mom” in Michigan was actually a staged event with the mother of a Romney staffer. Best of all, Mitt’s advice to the lady about dealing with questions from reporters was to basically ignore them and say whatever she wanted. “If you don’t want to answer any questions, that’s fine, too,” Mitt told the woman. “What I’ve learned is, if they ask a question, you can answer something else.”

MAC’S TAXPAYER-FUNDED CAMPAIGN - This isn’t exactly Watergate, but the Aiken, S.C.-based blog Kaolin Kronicle is reporting this morning that a staffer for U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham used a government e-mail address to promote a John McCain campaign stop. Which is illegal. We doubt anybody’s going to stir up much of a ruckus over this, but given how frequently (and vocally) McCain’s camp complains about unethical campaign tactics, you’d think they’d have a better watch on what’s going on in their own backyard.

Re: the Graham staffer’s email address, take a closer look at the jpg you linked to. The message didn’t come from Tewksbery’s email — it came from Eva Gardner who advertised the McCain event and suggested people contact Tewksbery if they needed further information. That’s not illegal or unethical in any way. That’s like somebody posting Sic Willie’s email address on the bathroom wall and then suggesting you should not have allowed your email to be posted there. Sir William, that’s crazy talk. Government employees can’t control where their email addresses end up or what third party advertises them any more than you or I can.
