EDWARDS’ BUS BELCHES ITS WAY THROUGH DOWNTOWN COLUMBIA, S.C.

FITSNews – January 13, 2008 – You know, we lost a lot of respect for John Edwards’ campaign round about this time last January, when the former N.C. Senator plastered our windshields with an environmental flyer demanding we use “100% post-consumer recycled paper,” among other things. Of course, Edwards’ flyer was printed on brand new, non-recycled paper, which we felt kinda diminished the potency of the message.

Anyway, we were reminded of that story this morning as Mr. Environmental’s “Main Street Express” belched its way through the streets of downtown Columbia, S.C. Sure, Edwards “Das Kapital” tour has been little more than an annoying sideshow to the real fight for the Democratic presidential nomination, but as long as there are ass-backward states like South Carolina in play, you can bet somebody’s going to be playing the “workers of the world, unite!” card.

And while Edwards’ bus may not be fueled by “PACs or Washington Lobbyists … EVER,” judging from the cloud of fumes following it through our fair state capital this morning, it’s definitely fueled by diesel.

Diesel engines are actually far more fuel-efficient, for what it’s worth.

And we’d much rather have someone speaking on behalf of the workers of South Carolina, instead of the owners, like some people. But, I guess actually standing up for people making less than $50K a year isn’t good enough for the cool kids.

Harden,

Nothing wrong w/ standing up for the poor people. There is something wrong w/ class warfare and the radical redistribution of wealth.

Well, the GOP has been waging war on the middle class for years. But, they just call it “good business.”
