Some Love From The Dems

GETTING SOME PROPS FROM SOUTH CAROLINA’S MINORITY PARTY

FITSNews – January 13, 2008 – Shortly after the hotly-contested 2006 campaign season was over, we ran into S.C. Democratic operative Phil Bailey (above, with Bill Clinton) at a local saloon and bought him a cold one. Turns out in addition to being a bit of a pool shark, Bailey was a very personable, level-headed guy, easy-going guy.

That’s why we weren’t at all surprised to discover that his recent Blogland interview ended up being a very enjoyable, informative read. For example, in commenting about Palmetto State Democrats “losing” control of the S.C. Senate back in 2001, Bailey had this to say:

Democrats didn’t lose the Senate at the ballot box. We lost it because of party-switchers.

You can say that again. And again. And again. Which is probably why we chuckle every time we hear somebody talk about South Carolina’s ”GOP-controlled” Senate.

Anyway, it turns out Bailey is also a FITSNews fan …

It’s funny to watch, sometimes, the senators reading blogs on the Senate floor. You can tell if there is something interesting out there when the Senators are running around telling everyone the web address. Senator McConnell will sometimes reference FITSNews from the podium. I hate to give Will Folks a plug, but his blog is great. He’s a great writer. Funny as hell.

Awwww … schnookums. You shouldn’t have.

    Thanks for the plug!

I should’ve asked him what the most-read blogs and blog stories in the Senate were.

Just be glad we have the 17th amendment or those guys would be choosing our federal senators.

For a guy that has a pretty secure spot with a good deal of power, Sen. McConnell is a pretty paranoid dude.
