PACKERS, PATRIOTS ADVANCE TO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

FITSNews - January 13, 2008 - Despite falling behind 14-0 and facing deteriorating field conditions, Brett Favre led the Green Bay Packers’ offense on six straight touchdown drives to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 42-20 and clinch a spot in next week’s NFC Championship game. In yesterday’s AFC divisional game, New England quarterback Tom Brady completed an NFL-record 92.9% of his passes in the Patriots’ 31-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Half of the NFL’s “Final Four” is now complete, with New England awaiting the winner of today’s San Diego-Indianapolis game and Green Bay awaiting the winner of today’s Dallas-New York Giants showdown.

As much as we hate to admit it, Brady was unstoppable yesterday - completing 26 of 28 attempts for 292 yards and three touchdowns, mostly on short passes called “dump-downs” as the Jaguars defense shut down his deep options. Of course, while we can acknowledge the success of our nemesis Brady, the trash-talking Braguars did what they usually do after getting beat by a better team - whine. ”It was a dump-down game,” Jaguars rookie safety Reggie Nelson complained afterward to reporters. ”Anybody can go 26-of-28 in a dump-down game.”

Look kid, we can’t stand Brady either, but the fact remains he’s headed to another AFC Championship game while you guys are headed back to Florida for the winter.
