FIFTEEN-MINUTE SESSION YESTERDAY FOCUSES EXCLUSIVELY ON “ENGLISH ONLY” LEGISLATION

FITSNews – January 11, 2008 – Anybody wondering why South Carolina remains stuck in the Paleozoic Era need only look to yesterday’s, um, “session” of the South Carolina Senate. First of all, these busy beavers only worked for about fifteen minutes. Second, they spent the whole time arguing over a bill that would make English the official language of South Carolina. From La Socialista’s coverage:

Sen. Chip Campsen, R-Charleston, suggested illegal immigrants would impose a dictatorship similar to Hugo Chavez’s government in Venezuela. That style of government “is a value so foreign to our vision of government,” he said.

Foreign? Really? Last time we checked our schools and our ports, in particular, pretty much epitomized what the socialist model of government is all about … not to mention the way we grew state government twenty times faster than the taxpayers’ ability to pay for it last year.

Just as we predicted, the 2008 legislative session in South Carolina is “all immigration, all the time,” a big ole’ election year suckfest.

Fortunately, FITSNews is a pander-free area, which means every time these idiots try to hide their abysmal performance behind the thin veil of a hot polling topic, we’ll be here to inject some sorely-needed perspective into the debate.

For the real skinny on our Republican-controlled Legislature’s performace, CLICK HERE.

We think you’ll agree that even Chavez himself would be proud of all these nitwits have “accomplished” on behalf of our state …

UPDATE – An excrutiatingly-hot Senate staffer just e-mailed us to say that this debate actually occurred in a judiciary subcommittee meeting yesterday, not on the Senate floor … which of course makes it all better! Just like Mommy kissing a scraped elbow, people!

You know, sometimes I actually agree with you.

I agree with you on the issue you’ve raised here Sic Willie and on the previous post emboldened by CLICK HERE. It’s absurd that immigration should become such a key issue in this state when there are other more pressing matters. The bill that was argued for 15 minutes is a sad excuse at empty Symbolism. I’ve blogged my own views on Immigration, so I won’t get on that soap box here. More interestingly, and we all really want to know about it, what’s up with your old boss endorsing Obama?

the last time I checked Federal law would pre-empt anything done here correct? So if that is true, why are we wasting our time?
