So is Mit conceeding SC to a McCain-Huckabee knife fight? Intersting strategy, with pulling his commercials in SC & FL to go for Michigan, though Michigan's delegates may still not be seated, ditto Florida's.

Iowa and New Hamshire probably aren't statistically meaningful, beyond notions of momentum and exposure.

Harden,

If you examine the Real Clear Politics graph of poll averages in South Carolina, you'll notice that McCain has doubled his support in less than one month. With his momentum from last night's New Hampshire victory (along with the bump in donations and free publicity), the small Huckabee lead is extremely tenuous. (Also, it's my understanding that SurveyUSA typically uses automated calls and has a reputation for extreme inaccuracy...so let's stick with Rasmussen for this analysis.)

Considering the large number of military veterans in South Carolina, the overwhelming number of state legislators (i.e. potential campaign surrogates) who endorsed McCain, and McCain's well-established campaign infrastructure, a Huckabee victory over McCain in South Carolina would be a massive upset.

Harden, your assessment is mistaken. McCain must win in Michigan or South Carolina to keep moving, and he currently has the overwhelming advantage in resources to seal his victory. Otherwise, his momentum has been stopped dead in its tracks, and last night's victory in New Hampshire was a meaningless regional anomaly.

I sure hope SC does not back Huckabee as he is not being honest with us.

Have you read the Washington times the last couple days ? Huckabee has someone on his staff by the name of Gilchrist who is a real nut case and has been sending threatening emails to anti-illegal immigrant websites saying they are pedophiles among other nasty things.I read this at Americans for Legal Immigration on the web.

Gilchrist and Huckabee have been caught in several lies and Washington Times has exposed them.Among other things first Huckabee says he favors stopping Birthright citizenship then he says he did not say that and then he admits he did say that but has changed his mind ????

Believe me I am no McCain or Romney fan and will not vote for them but I don't want a liar and a person who is not liked by the state he was governor of in the White House either

So who is left to vote for ?

I don't know what polling you're looking at, but the last two polls have Huckabee in a blowout, McCain in third (SurveyUSA) and Huckabee up by seven on McCain (Rasmussen). So, SC is Huckabee's to lose, actually.

I think it's clear that John McCain is the front-runner for the Republican nomination, but I wouldn't prematurely rule out Mitt Romney. As you know, the race for the presidency isn't just about the political consultants hired by a candidate.

It's also about a candidate's message.

And, a bonafied fiscal conservative with a phenomenally successfully business career and a passion for conservative change has a lot more credibility than a re-fried Washington insider who voted against the 2004 Bush tax cuts.

If McCain can come "literally back from the dead," why can't Romney do the same?

To prove that he's not just a Granite State 'one-hit wonder,' South Carolina is a must-win for McCain. And, judging from recent polling and his momentum from New Hampshire, the Palmetto State is his to lose.

Every now and then I like to enjoy my social life. Last night while you were spending time uploading pictures of hot girls to your website, I was taking a hot girl out to dinner.

Sorry Will, its just so hard to keep up with people who have nothing better to do than sitting in front of a computer all day and night. I'll keep trying though...
