EdVenture Is Fun

THERE’S A MUSEUM FOR LEARNING IN A STATE THIS STUPID?

FITSNews - January 7, 2008 - We’ve got to admit, of all the taxpayer-funded boondoggles out there, EdVenture Children’s Museum is probably the mostest funnest. After all, where else can you learn important South Carolina life skills like stacking boxes, working a grocery store checkout line and milking a cow - all under one roof?

In all seriousness, though, EdVenture is a lot of fun. We went this weekend to see their new winter exhibit, the highlights of which included a snowmobile that didn’t go anywhere and a miniature hockey rink. Not surprisingly, our very own Sic Willie took it upon himself to teach a few dozen little kids about various hockey penalties, including ”slashing,” ”high-sticking” and “cross-checking.” Several lacerations and black eyes later, he was upstairs in the Vietnam exhibit, forcing a bunch of four-year-olds to pay an arm and a leg for plastic fish and imaginary rice paddies (picture below).

Of course the best part of EdVenture is the prevalence of these fine creatures … which makes it a lot like the children’s section of the Richland County Public Library on a Saturday morning.

Ahhh … no one can resist “The Puppy Who Lost Its Way,” people. No one …
