New Year, New Name … Same Scumbags January 2, 2008
Posted by fitsnews in : SC Politics , trackback“FIRST TUESDAY STRATEGIES” IS CONSULTANT WARREN TOMPKINS LATEST INVENTION
FITSNews - January 2, 2008 - Despite their protestations to the contrary, the dim bulbs associated with once-feared SCGOP warlord Warren Tompkins remain the Palmetto State’s sleaziest collection of high testosterone, low-IQ political advisors. Now it appears the artists formerly known as Tompkins, Thompson, Sullivan have decided to re-incorporate under the name First Tuesday Strategies.
We’d love to show you the new firm’s website, but it doesn’t look like they’ve got one up yet. And sadly the old TTS website mysteriously disappeared from the Internet shortly after Tompkins’ goons got busted anonymously attacking a political rival back in September.
A retro website is still up for Tompkins’ lobbying firm, and of course you can read extensively about how sweet and cuddly all of his status quo politicians and special interest clients are each and every day on his firm’s online mouthpiece, Shot Politics.
After all, God forbid you miss an update about how Mitt Romney is pretty much Jesus Christ (albeit Latter Day), or how the ambulance chasers represented by their boss are currently being targeted for defeat. Which really would be a crying shame if it’s true, people.
Unfortunately, you won’t find much (if anything) on Sh*t Politics about the recent Supreme Court bar exam scandal, but far be it from us to presume this glaring lack of journalistic curiosity has anything to do with the fact that Tompkins is the Court’s lobbyist.
You also probably won’t read much about needed reforms to the insanely expensive (yet notoriously unhelpful) Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test, because Tompkins represents those guys, too. Sort of like the insurance carriers who until recently were wasting millions of your tax dollars each year on a cozy no-bid contract.
But hey, they’ve got plenty of time on their hands to label us tools of the Sanford administration despite our propensity for whacking the state’s Chief Executive squarely in the balls (even harder here, here and especially here).
Finally, on a non-political note, we’re guessing that our definition of visual relief differs a bit from theirs. Which is fine, guys. Whatever floats your boat.
Name change or not, count on FITSNews to continue owning these idiots this year … although in a rare nod to their sporadic intelligence, picking a spitball fight with us has probably tripled their audience.

Hey, I think the Sh*t does a gre hahahaha. Damn, I almost got it out with a straight face.
“Doesn’t matter what they are saying about you, as long as they are talking about you.”
Will,
In your post you essentially accuse Shot Politics of shielding the clients of Tompkins’ lobbying firm while attacking his clients’ opponents. Without knowing the specifics of who owns/runs/writes for The Shot, I am not qualified to comment on the propriety of that blog.
According to your website (www.viewpolitik.com), you are the founder of Viewpolitik, LLC, which specializes in “messaging, issues research, opposition research, polling, strategic planning, communications assessments and press office management.” The website even states that you “respond to your opponent’s moves.”
To what degree is this blog ‘independent’ of your role as founder of Viewpolitik? Is FITSNews simply the media mouthpiece for your clients? Has FITSNews ever attacked a client’s opponent to promote a client’s political objectives?
Undoubtedly, you are a talented writer. Sometimes comical. Sometimes very informative. Sometimes callous, vulgar, and profane. However, if you are simply using this blog to further your business interests without notifying your readers of this conflict of interest, you are doing a great disservice to them and the blogosphere-at-large.
Will, if you are using this website to promote your clients and attack your opponents (whether this occurs frequently or infrequently), you should admit this openly on FITSNews and stop misleading your readers.
Finally, please stop criticizing your rivals of the poor journalistic practices that you (and others, including the Quinn-affiliated Palmetto Scoop) have committed many times over.
Calhoun,
I think that your first paragraph addresses the problem with “The Shot.” Nobody really knows the specifics of who owns/runs/writes for The Shot because it changes so much.
Will, to the delight of MILF’s and cougars everywhere, has posted his picture along with his biography for all who visit this site to see who he is and why he is qualified to write what he does.
Yes, he does own his own business. Yes, he does write this blog. All this information is presented in the biography. As I mentioned earlier, it also features a very flattering photograph of him.
I fail to see how this disclosure is doing a “great disservice” to his clients. He is providing a very refreshing outlook and much-needed nuanced approach to the questionable behavior known as “South Carolina Politics.” Who he advises and what he says is none of our business. Should you feel that his “view” is conflicted, there is a very easy solution…simply stop reading.
I highly doubt that you are mounting a crusade to rid the Internet of harmful and biased reading material. If you believe that you can do this, I’ll go ahead and tell you that I’m not voting for Ron Paul and anything you say cannot change my mind…sorry.
Thanks for your time. Ta-ta for now…
Blossom,
I appreciate the long, thoughtful reply. But I stand by my previous assertion: Will Folks is, in many instances, a “hired gun” for his clients. Basically, he can nail opponents with embarrassing stories, spread rumors, and write lengthy opinion pieces…for pay!…while hiding behind the comic facade of the FITS girls. It is tactically brilliant but intellectually dishonest.
There is a fine line between a “blogger” and “propagandist,” and at times Will has crossed that line.
Oh, yeah. For the record, I’m not a Ron Paul supporter, but thanks for the humorously shallow attempt at a witty comeback. It’s a lot easier to discredit your opponent than address his argument, but I guess Will already knows that.
Calhoun,
Sic Willie tactically brilliant? Our asses.
