S.C. Governor Won’t Endorse In Presidential Primary, Aides Say
SANFORD TO STAY OUT OF 2008 FRAY, ACCORDING TO HIS CONFIDANTS
FITSNews – December 20, 2007 – Although we’ve still got a source who swears up and down that S.C. Governor Mark Sanford is endorsing former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the 2008 GOP presidential nod, the clock is slowly ticking away on that possibility, and two senior aides to the governor stated definitively this morning that their boss isn’t endorsing anybody.
“Take it to the bank,” one of the aides told FITSNews. “He’s staying out.”
In addition to the persistent Giuliani speculation, a rumor floated down from Washington D.C. last month hinting at a possible Sanford endorsement of Mitt Romney, although that speculation was quickly squashed by the governor’s inner circle.
Mind you, we’re not completely closing the book on a potential gubernatorial endorsement, but the reality is that the calendar is pretty much taking care of that for us. With just thirty days to go before South Carolina Republicans head to the polls, we’re fast approaching D-Day in terms of maximizing the media value of a high-profile endorsement like Sanford’s.
It’s unlikely anything will happen between now and the New Year as people start tuning out politics to spend time with their families, and if the first week of January passes with no word, the available media cycles become severely crammed.
 Stay tuned …

Mark Sanford is only useful to a presidential candidate that MUST win SC. If at primary time one of them NEEDS SC to go on, they will of course cut the deal to make Sanford VP.
But the pro’s know that when the national media looks at Sanford’s record they will see it as very slim, and he will be a drag on the ticket.
Sanford gets by here becasue we have a lazy press. On a national stage, they will eat him alive. Think Dan Quayle without personallity

That is so weak I can barely stand it. If he stands up for South Carolinians, then he should stand up for us.
How can our Governor be so lame?

Par for the course with Sanford. He’ll wait until Iowa and NH, then sweep in and endorse the clear future S.C. winner and take credit for delivering the state. That’s how he plays state politics, why not the national primary?
The only problem is that the only Libertarian in the race is Ron Paul. Would Sanford break with his party and endorse a Republican?
I’m kind of kidding, of course. Why should Sanford endorse someone? Most South Carolinians can’t make up their minds and are flip-flopping between the top four candidates, based on the roller-coaster polls.
I think it’s time to find Bobo the Talking Chimp. Sic Willie could guide him to election in S.C. and then Wyoming, then Florida, and Texas, and California and RRRRRAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Rudy is dropping like a rock in the polls. For a while he was the media darling. Few reasonable politicians would want to endorse him with his mounting ethical problems and war mongering attitudes.
