LATEST VIDEO DOES LITTLE TO SHED THE “WHACKO” IMAGE

FITSNews - December 4, 2007 - We’ve always tended to lean green on conservation issues here at FITSNews. Much like South Carolina’s sh*tty economy, sh*tty public schools, sh*tty health care system and sh*tty state government, we recognize that the environmental challenges we face here in South Carolina are deathly serious … and how we address them will have a huge impact on both our bottom line and our quality of life.

That’s why it’s so disappointing that South Carolina’s leading environmental group has chosen to, um, “advance” its cause via THIS VIDEO, which is quite possibly the worst thing we’ve ever seen in our lives.

Seriously, if you can stomach the over-the-top, no-plot, atonal nightmare that is “Global Warming Guy” without slitting your wrists or setting fire to yourself, then bravo to you, good sir or madam.

In fact, we actually just received a threatening e-mail from our laptop computer saying it was going to put a spear through our hearts if we ever played this video again.

Ah, telling us that we’re all the problem. That’s the solution. When are the environmentalists going to get some real PR people to tell them what Madison Avenue has known forever: Telling people they’re stupid and evil doesn’t sell anything.

Of course, I’m assuming that’s what that video showed. It’s 6 minutes long? I made it through 30 seconds before I wanted to slit my wrists.

Awww, c’mon, Willie! You’re just jealous ‘cuz the camera loves Dana Beach and at the end of the video he cycled off into the sunset with the gal.

Heroes are hard to find. Especially in South Carolina.

AS-

We have tremendous respect for Dana Beach, and would never dream of questioning his ability to pick up chicks on bicycles.

None of that makes this video any less nauseating.

Will,

I thought anything that involved young girls and altering your consciousness would be right up your alley?

Seriously though, don’t light yourself on fire, it emits Carbon and contributes to global warming.

This is just the funny side of a serious issue: Santee Cooper, a utility that the citizens of South Carolina own yet have no control over, wants to build an archaic coal plant on the Pee Dee river that will put more mercury in the fish, increase cancer rates and cause the earth to warm faster.

So an entity that we own is going to build a machine to give us cancer, kill our fish and destroy the global ecosystem and we can’t do anything to stop them. Where is your indignation against uncontrolled government spending and lack of accoutnablilty when it counts my friend?

If I could not enjoy a lighter side of this issue I might just light myself on fire too.

Notice Mr. Big is cutting lines with an exxon mobile credit card….ha!

Lifestyle:

You seem up to date on this…or at least familiar with one of the several mass mailings going out against the Pee Dee coal-fired. Either way, I am curious: what do you mean by “archaic coal plant?” Is it archaic because it is using old, dirty technology? because it is a coal plant (of whatever level of technology)? or for some other reason?

By Its just a lifestyle on December 4th, 2007 at 2:04 pm

Gal,

By archaic, I mean the entire justification for another coal fired power plant in SC. New sources of base load power should not come from Coal.

There are Mercury advisories for the Pee Dee. Sea levels are rising threatening our waterfront property and tourism industry. Santee Cooper’s solution is a coal plant on the banks of the river? The rest of the country, including many other utilities with the same cheap power mandate of Santee Cooper, are choosing not to build these pollution machines.

The concept of Clean Coal is like saying I take clean sh*ts. It may flush different but at the end of the day, it is still a bunch of crap.
