Lindsay’s Opponent Is Going To Have Some Issues

… ER, WE MEAN “LINDSEY’S OPPONENT” IS GOING TO HAVE SOME ISSUES

FITSNews – November 27, 2007 – The fact that pictures of popslut Lindsay Lohan are infinitely preferable to pictures of politician Lindsey Graham has been scientifically proven by numerous polls conducted in Sic Willie’s pants. Including one that may be going on right now.

Anyway, as much as we really don’t like Lindsey the politician, we’re obliged to kinda sorta give him a backhanded compliment today. That’s because as flaky and media whorishy as he may be, at least he doesn’t hate black people.

According to numerous Graham backers, however, the same cannot be said of GOP National Committeeman Dr. Buddy Witherspoon, who is announcing today that he will challenge Graham in the 2008 GOP Senate Primary.

A dentist from Lexington, S.C., Witherspoon is already catching serious flak for his previous association with the Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), a group that appears to be slightly to the right of the first incarnation of George Wallace when it comes to racial issues.

Established in 1988, the CofCC is a staunch opponent of integration, multiculturalism, political correctness, secularism and immigration – legal or otherwise. No word yet on whether its members also oppose wheat bread and brown rice, but we’re gonna go out on a limb and say “yes.”

Branded a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League, the CofCC’s statement of principles certainly doesn’t mince words when it comes to favoring crackers’ rights:

We oppose all efforts to mix the races of mankind, to promote non-white races over the European-American people through so-called “affirmative action” and similar measures, to destroy or denigrate the European-American heritage, including the heritage of the Southern people, and to force the integration of the races.

Back in 1999, Witherspoon was criticized for his affiliation with the CofCC and for refusing a request from then-Republican National Chairman Jim Nicholson to quit the group. Nicholson’s request came amid intense media scrutiny following the revelation that powerful Southern politicians like Trent Lott, among others, were linked to the group, which was said to have been “built by supporters of the segregationist White Citizens Councils, the John Birch Society and activists in the presidential campaigns of then-Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace.”

Witherspoon eventually severed his ties with the CofCC, but that hasn’t stopped Graham supporters from spreading the word about his prior affiliation. Some of them have even suggested that Witherspoon maintains ties not only to the CofCC, but also to the more overtly-racist Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and that his public renouncement of these organizations is merely an attempt to come across as more acceptable to moderate GOP voters.

A Witherspoon supporter who spoke with FITSNews on the condition of anonymity vowed that Graham “would rue the day his people picked this fight.”

“Lindsey and his people are just smearing Buddy’s name, trying to make him a fringe candidate before he even gets into the race,” he said. “That’s a big mistake. Buddy fights fire with fire.”

Even without the alleged racist baggage, Witherspoon faces a tremendous uphill climb. Graham has a $4.2 million war chest and tremendous statewide name ID. And while he is clearly vulnerable among diehard Republicans, defeating him hinges on the emergence of a credible opponent.

Witherspoon, while he may be able to escape the accusations of racism, doesn’t appear to be such an opponent. His campaign is poised to be the classic “one-trick political pony,” hammering away on the immigration issue but offering little else of substance.

One thing is for sure, whether it’s the Graham camp’s well-organized assault on Witherspoon’s credibility or Witherspoon backers promising to “fight fire with fire,” this race promises to be hugely entertaining as whackos on both the right and the left will no doubt pull out the heavy artillery.

As for our thoughts on the subject of racial equality, we’d merely point out that Reese Witherspoon’s nude scene from the film Cruel Intentions was set to a song called Colorblind by the Counting Crows.

We also dare anybody to deny that Living Color’s “Cult of Personality” completely rocks the house, or that “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys is a kick ass rap video. We also like Oreos, piano keyboards and both the chocolate and vanilla sections of Neapolitan ice cream.
