THESE DVDs PACK A HELPFUL PUNCH, PEOPLE

FITSNews – November 10, 2007 – Our accountants say we’re crazy to give away this kind of free publicity, but the truth is our obsession with Denzel Washington collecting DVDs, our interest in health care issues, and our Mother Theresa-esque support of good causes was too potent a combination to resist. Besides, accountants suck. Especially if they’re from the damn IRS.

Anyway, we were strolling through our local DVD store last night when we stumbled upon several titles affiliated with the Susan G. Komen foundation’s project, DVDs For The Cure. So we picked up a couple of them, including the 1989 cult classic “Say Anything,” which we’re embarassed to admit we didn’t already own given our otherwise impressive Cameron Crowe collection.

“DVDs For the Cure” are like any other DVDs, except they’ve got a pink cover and when you buy one, fifty cents of your purchase price is donated to the Komen foundation’s efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. Now if we can just find a pizza joint willing to donate fifty cents of each meat lover’s pie we order to fight chronic obesity, we can feel even better about all the time we waste each Saturday.

Wow – a column about female mammary glands with no gratuitous pictures – and for a good cause. Will, are you feeling ok today??
