IF SO, WE LOVE THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS

FITSNews - November 2, 2007 - Since we’re already super-hyped about the Monday launch of NPR’s new music website, today’s cherry on top was discovering that live clips from two of our favorite Canadian bands, The Arcade Fire and The New Pornographers, will be featured on the site. Of course if you aren’t sufficiently hip to know who either of these bands are, the site will also include all sorts of contemporary, jazz, classical and regular rock music from artists you probably have heard of before.

Who knows, there might even be some Air Supply hits included for Sic Willie’s benefit.

Anyway, the whole point of this post is to recommend The New Pornographers to your listening attention. Their two most recent offerings, “Challengers” and “Twin Cinema,” in particular, are worth checking out, as is Neko Case (above), the band’s incredibly hot co-lead singer.

And in case the term “New Pornographers” sounded familiar, it’s actually a quote from disgraced (and defrocked) televangelist Jimmy Swaggart. In case you forgot, he’s the guy who famously said after being busted with a prostitute in 1988 that “If I do not return to the pulpit this weekend, millions of people will go to hell.” In all fairness, though, that’s the kind of commitment we bring to writing this website every day.
