COLORADO SURGES INTO FIRST-EVER WORLD SERIES

FITSNews – October 16, 2007 – There’s been little point to living since the epic collapse of our fantasy baseball team two weeks ago, but we figured we’d come out of mourning long enough to congratulate the Colorado Rockies on making the 2007 World Series behind perhaps the best stretch of baseball ever played.

The Rox have won a ridiculous 21 of their last 22 games, including a one-game playoff to earn their postseason berth, which was promptly followed by seven in a row to sweep the NLDS and NLCS over the Cubs and Diamondbacks, respectively. Only one other team in baseball history – the 1976 Cincinnati Reds – has ever won seven games in a row to start the postseason.

Sportswriters all across the country are tripping over themselves to invoke the painfully-available “Rocky Mountain High” reference, and hippies in Colorado – who are no doubt “Rocky Mountain High” 24 hours a day – finally seem to be aware that their state has a professional baseball team.

Bong hits for the Rockies? You know it, people …

What good is it if your sister is married to Todd Helton’s first cousin, and the dude STILL CAN”T GET YOU WS TIX? I mean, seriously, what is this world coming to? That was the only reason we let her marry him in the first place (let alone get her pregnant a couple of times.)

GO SOX (Note: subject to change if tickets end up in my mailbox.)
