Governor Goes Old Testament With Animal Obsession

SANFORD’S BARNYARD FETISH NOW INCLUDES BIBLICAL COWS

FITSNews – October 12, 2007 – By now we’ve all seen pictures of S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford carrying two live piglets into the S.C. State House (to protest pork in the budget), or pulling a horse and buggy up to the State House steps (to protest South Carolina’s 1895 government), but today the governor “went Biblical” with his obsession for barnyard metaphors. In a statement released by his office this afternoon, Sanford went all the way back to Genesis Chapter 41 to make a point about South Carolina’s impending budget crisis:

“Even from Biblical times you’ll find pharaoh’s dream of seven fat cows and seven skinny cows coming out of the Nile to show there are regular and predictable ups and downs that come with the business cycle,” Sanford said in a press release sent out from his office. “We’ve said from day one that during good times, we have to restrain spending to keep the state from being hit so hard when things slow down, because good times don’t last forever. Instead, government spending has grown by over 40 percent during the last three years.”

Uhhh … is anybody else humming “when Sanford was in Egypt land … let my Sanford go” in their heads right about now? Because that’s what we’re doing.
