BOWIE SUBMITS RESIGNATION TO S.C. FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION
FITSNews – September 21, 2007 – Effective next Wednesday, embattled S.C. Firefighters Association Executive Director Jim Bowie is stepping down from his post with the organization, although it is unclear whether or not he will remain as a national First Responder Chairman to the presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
In a statement read by S.C. Firefighters Association spokeswoman Kandice Goff, the organization’s Executive Committee thanked Bowie for his three decades of service, saying “Jim has been instrumental in many positive and progressive developments for the benefit of everyone in South Carolina.”
Bowie, who was the subject of a 1992 investigation that ultimately led to his indictment on a breach of trust charge, is rumored to be at the center of a current unrelated inquiry. Goff did not elaborate on the board’s decision to accept his resignation.
