Why Mitt Romney Should Give Warren Tompkins The Pink Slip

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IT’S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH CAMPAIGN MONKEY BUSINESS

FITSNews – September 11, 2007 – We were just forwarded the results of a new South Carolina poll that has former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney stuck in fourth place in the Palmetto State, drawing a measley 8% of Republican voters.

We found this number especially interesting given the number of folks howling for Romney to dump his South Carolina consultant, J. Warren Tompkins, after it was revealed that Tompkins’ company was behind an anonymous website attacking Republican rival Fred Thompson (who’s at 31% in the new poll, incidentally).

Forgive us for asking the obvious question, but whatever happened to firing somebody because they’re doing a ridiculously sh*tty job? Obviously despite all its talk of corporate culture, working on the Romney campaign is a lot like working for South Carolina’s Department of Education … you can completely suck ass and keep getting buckets of money.

Romney should hire Rod Shealy if he wants to win in SC. Shealy’s got a hot hand in SC state politics…and he just got passed over by the Freddie Thompson crew, so he’s open for business. What better time than now for Romney to change gears, dump the losers he has, and start winning this state?

I think the one thing that bothers me about this whole Romney/Tompkins/Donehue mess is this…and it may be the most obvious, so pay attention really closely…

How can you “let go a consultant” on a campaign that he “never was an employee” for?

What’s next, poor lil’ Wesley Donehue goes to rehab for his “problem”?

Things that make you go “Hmm….”
