2008 will be a re-run of the Hawkins — Bright race from 4 years ago.

This time it is Bright vs. Scott Talley who is just Hawkins-lite. They believe Talley can win because he doesn’t have all the rape charges and other negative stuff that Hawkins does.

An open seat, Sanford’s very high positive numbers in Spartanburg, and the genuine hatred of incumbent lawyer-legislators among rank and file GOP primary voters should mean that Sanford could virtually appoint the next Senator.

The question is will Sanford play chicken little again or will he actually work to get someone who agrees with him elected.

It is assumed by many that Sanford had operations against individual members of the GA last year through South Carolinians for Responsible Government.

No legislative race in South Carolina history ever had as much outside money as 06. Those were Sanford allies that sent the checks.

You are telling me that is just by chance?

You had mixed results in 06. But, come on willie, you know you guys were involved, even if behind the scenes.

I know for legal reasons, you probably can not truthfully answer that question. But, legislators are not naive. They knew who was getting in their races.

If the Governor would listen to someone who knows the “ground war” he would have more than the Bowen/Martin race in Anderson. Picking good candidates and helping them are important. Throwing money at anyone who will run is stupid.

I hope he listens and uses his time and money effectively.
