FALCONS’ QB COULD LAND IN JAIL FOR 12-18 MONTHS

FITSNews – August 20, 2007 – Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Michael Vick today reached an agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to dogfighting charges, meaning the NFL star will likely spend anywhere between 12-18 months in jail and miss at least .

Good riddance, we say. Vick probably deserves more time than he’s going to get for his high level participation in this barbaric activity, but at least the feds are insisting on jail time. What a shame this whole mess is. On the field, no one is more exciting to watch than Vick. His gracefulness is a thing of beauty, and every time he touches the ball you can feel electricity pulsing through the crowd. But now that image of grace and beauty has been forever replaced by gutwrenchingly grotesque stories of innocent animals being drowned, electrocuted and hanged. Truly savage.

Our hope for Vick is that he will serve his time, rehabilitate his career and one day become a leader in the fight to stop the inhumane treatment of animals. That’s the only way anything good will come out of this disgusting saga.

I enjoyed the Atlanta Journal-Constitution article about how Falcons fans were sending their Vick jerseys to the Humane Society for use as pet bedding.

Then there’s this story: Apparently someone created a Michael Vick dog chew toy. Now THAT’S Justice.
