This List Is Killing Us
IT’S UP TO 100 NOW, PEOPLE
FITSNews – August 18, 2007 – Needless to say, we’re totally kicking ourselves now for bragging about our forthcoming “Palmetto Power 50” list. Not only has the damn thing undergone some mutant form of cellular division and grown to 100 names, but the deluge of incoming suggestions has been so overwhelming that our e-mail inbox actually spit at us yesterday and said to us “to hell with you b*tches.”
Anyway, the list has been compiled and will be released late Sunday in a special edition of the “Echo Chamber,” our popular weekend political insider column.
To answer some of your questions, no – it’s not just a list. In addition to the long-awaited rankings, each name will feature a fiscal conservative rating, political stock index report (i.e. rising, holding or falling) and a “Change Agent” designation, indicating whether or not that powerbroker is part of the problem or part of the solution in South Carolina politics.
Yes, the list will probably piss a lot of people off.
Yes, the list will be imperfect.
Yes, the list can be digested while listening to any musical selection you’d like, although we’d highly recommend “Damn, It Feels Good To Be A Gangster” by the Geto Boys if you think you’re on it, and perhaps something in D Minor (the saddest chord) if you think we’re going to give you the shaft.
And yes, the list itself will be serious and credible, although our descriptions will feature the same healthy irreverance, sarcasm and humor that all of our posts strive to achieve.
Oddly enough, the one burning question we’ve been asked more than any other is whether or not our own Sic Willie will be listed among the state’s top 100 political powerbrokers.

No list will ever be perfect, but it will be interesting.

We have to admit we’ll check out the list. But, it’s going to be like a very bad train wreck. Everyone knows it will be repulsive, but you got to look.
In this case the carnage will be from Will’s twisted and perverted humor, his bad taste, bad manners and his wacko pseudo ultra right wing fanatic nut job political slant. Whew, pretty good description, right?!!
Bring it on Will. We’re curious how high you rank Howard Rich and SCRG.

It was much better than I expected. I think it is a job well done. There will always be room for discussion…but this is a fine list. Congrats.
