S.C. COMPTROLLER GENERAL IS SPORTING SOME SWEET WHITE BUCKS, PEOPLE!
FITSNews - August 15, 2007 - Imagine trying to fit the entire population of Mexico City into a room the size of a sardine can and you have some idea what it’s like trying to get into a S.C. Budget and Control Board meeting. It’s pretty awesome considering everybody knows ahead of time exactly what’s going to happen in every meeting, which means they typically have all the drama of a Saved By The Bell re-run.
Of course it’s always a big fashion show (inasmuch as a bunch of sweaty white guys in suits pressing up against one another can be called a fashion show), and today’s big news on that front is truly shocking. Believe it or not, of the dozens of lobbyists, politicians and politicos trying to cram their way into the tiny “Governor’s Conference Room” on the State House grounds, there was only one pair of white bucks in the crowd.
One pair?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?
Seriously, people. This is South Carolina. In the summer. Seersucker and white bucks might as well be the state uniform at this time of the year. At least the one man with the “white buck plan” happened to be our state Comptroller General, Richard Eckstrom, which does mitigate some of our disappointment.
