Everything And Nothing Is Happening
SO TODAY IS JENNIFER CONNELLY DAY
FITSNews – August 13, 2007 – Sure, White House “brain” Karl Rove announced his resignation, the Republican presidential candidates announced that they are going to debate on YouTube and former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson announced that he was dropping out of the 2008 race, but for some reason it still feels like nothing whatsoever is happening in the political world. Locally, we even got floated a rumor that several prominent Greenville business leaders were looking for a candidate to run against South Carolina’s only Hispanic Representative, Gloria Haskins, but we couldn’t muster the interest to write about it.
Instead, we gathered at Harper’s restaurant in downtown Columbia and meticulously dissected the filmography of actress Jennifer Connelly … for two hours. Yes, she was the girl in A Beautiful Mind (Sic Willie minus $40). Yes, her first film was Sergio Leone’s epic Once Upon A Time in America (Sic Willie minus $80). And yes, she is under forty years of age (Sic Willie minus $160).
Sic Willie wanted to go double or nothing again because he was convinced that Connelly got naked in Career Opportunities (as opposed to Requiem For A Dream), but with our lunch tabs already paid for we didn’t have it in us to further deprive him of his limited resources.
