[...] Stef wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptWe have no idea who Rachel Griffiths is, but we’re guessing she was the girl in elementary school who could always circle the “main idea” in a paragraph no matter how long or how hard it was.
I always hear this question and it is kind of stupid (but Mitt's answer was so much more stupid than the premice of the question is that it actually countered my natural aversion to this kind of 'gotcha' questioning).

Couldn't he have just noted that his kids are not his slaves and that at 18, the minimum age of enlistment or OCS Mitt non longer had dominion over them or rather they can and did make up their own damn minds whether or not to serve in the military "and I encourage them to do so in the future" or something of that ilk.

I can see it now. Mitt Romney on the war in Iraq "Well instead of the surge, I was thinking we get 20,000-40,000 RV's decked out with my signs and bumper sticker and get the those troops to campaign across Iowa for me. That should not only secure Iraq, but perhaps passify and regain territory for us in Afghanistan as well." Thanks Mitt, for the BRILLIANT insight.

Why is it that all these guys like Romney, Bush, Cheney, or Giuliani who never served a day in the military, or if they did never heard a shot fired in anger, and whose children never served either, why are they so anxious to send other American's spouses or children to war? Whereas you have men like Kerry, Hagel, and Murtha, who know what war is from first-hand experience, are opposed and urge caution. Of all the Republicans, only John McCain is not a hypocrite on the war issue.
