GENERAL ASSEMBLY ELECTS DORCHESTER REPRESENTATIVE TO SERVE REMAINDER OF RAVENEL’S TERM

FITSNews – August 3, 2007 – As expected, the 92% male S.C. General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to elect one of its own – State Rep. Converse Chellis – to fill the vacant State Treasurer’s position this afternoon. According to The State newspaper’s afternoon update, the vote was immediately followed by a love-in:

Chellis, who was seated in the House gallery with his family, rose from his seat and blew kisses to lawmakers who stood and applauded.

Awww … so sweet. Let’s just hope none of those kisses land in the wrong place and as a result land Chellis in the middle of another sexual harassment suit. Anyway, following the ceremonial blowing of kisses, we hear a ray of sunlight shot through the State House window and beamed directly on Chellis, who grabbed a microphone and led the chamber in a stirring rendition of Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World.”

Who nominated/voted for Ryberg?

By FITSNews on August 3rd, 2007 at 2:06 pm

Peeler nominated Ryberg. No clue who voted for him, although they are probably all individuals with a high tolerance of hypocritical and sanctimonious Yankees, God bless ‘em …

Do you think Ryberg will finally get it now???

By Tired of good ole boys on August 4th, 2007 at 3:02 am

Sure, Ryberg may get it. He may get that we are such a backwards state that our legislature refuses to nominate an African-American who isn’t part of their club on their way to elect a stooge of the status quo establishment who’s first job is to fire the highest serving African-American in state government since Reconstruction.

We could have $650 million over the next three years to put towards better causes but instead we’ll waste it on taking care the legislature and their cronies through the Budget and Control Board.

Wonder why Governor Sanford is so disliked in the General Assembly – its because he is a principled honest guy and they hate those qualities in people and are doing everything they can to prevent him from making any progress.
