SENATOR WANTS TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO PAKISTAN
FITSNews – August 2, 2007 - Just call it the “O-bomb.”
Dropped yesterday on the 2008 presidential race, Illinois Senator Barack Obama’s pronouncement that America should take the fight to al-Queda in Pakistan (if the Pakistani government won’t) is generating a ton of buzz among political pundits, foreign policy analysts and his fellow candidates. Delivered at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C., Obama’s first major foray into the global terrorism debate certainly made him sound more like a hawk than a dove:
“I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges,” Obama said. “But let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. … If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will.”
Cool, we say. We’ve always felt that terrorist targets (of high, low or medium value) should be O-bombed back to the Stone Age no matter where they were located, and failing to bomb somebody who deserves it simply to kiss a little ass in the Arab world is the surest way to invite another September 11. In case America hasn’t noticed, the Arab world pretty much hates us already, and if we’re paying a lot of money for fancy Stealth bombers and other war toys, we might as well use them. Rock on, O-bomba!
