SCIENTISTS UNCOVER “EGG-TOOTH” AMONG TREASURE TROVE OF NEW FOSSILS

FITSNews – July 20, 2007 – We were thumbing through this morning’s copy of the San Francisco Chronicle when we just happened to stumble upon this article about an amazing fossil find in the mountains of New Mexico. According to the report, dinosaurs actually coexisted with their early relatives instead of eating them, as scientists had previously thought. From the story.

The discovery of a wide variety of creatures all mingled together in layer upon layer of rocks dating from Earth’s late Triassic period between 235 million and 200 million years ago … shows that the strange relatives of the dinosaurs remained on the scene while the dinosaurs evolved into truly dominant creatures during the Jurassic period, between 120 million and 200 million years ago.

Even more amazing was the discovery of a Triassic version of S.C. House Ways & Means Chairman Dan “Egg-Tooth” Cooper, a species scientists say had been extinct for 220 million years until Cooper mysteriously hatched in the South Carolina Upstate back in 1961.
