FITSNews – July 13, 2007 - Most of us are familiar with the scene from “There’s Something About Mary” where Ben Stiller’s character walks into the woods at a South Carolina Interstate rest area and accidentally stumbles upon a homosexual orgy. “I was just peeing!” Stiller protests as S.C. State Troopers open up floodlights on the area, and shouts of “Me, Too!” and “Yeah, that’s what I was doing! I was just peeing!” fill the air as authorities round up the suspects. Fast-forward to this week, when Florida State Rep. Bob Allen was arrested for allegedly offering to perform oral sex on an undercover cop at a Florida public restroom … for $20. From the story:

Veteran’s Memorial Park was under surveillance when Allen was seen coming in and out of a restroom three times, said police Lt. Todd Hutchinson. Allen, 48, then approached an undercover officer and was arrested. He has been charged with solicitation for prostitution, which has a maximum penalty of one year in jail. Brevard County jail officials said Allen posted a $500 bond. While being transported to jail, Allen told WFTV Channel 9 that the situation was “a very big misunderstanding.”

Ironically, according to the Something About Mary Trivia Page on IMDB.com, the “I was just peeing” scene from the film was “based on a real case where Troopers discovered that the stops where (sic) being used as meeting places for homosexuals to … have anonymous sex. The troopers learned this after arresting a South Carolina state offical ‘in the act’ at one of the stops.”
