S.C. TREASURER CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE CRACK COCAINE

FITSNews – June 19, 2007 - State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel has been charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine by federal and state authorities, The State newspaper is reporting this afternoon.

Sources say State Sen. Greg Ryberg, who finished a distant second to Ravenel in last year’s GOP Primary, is meeting with S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s staff right now, presumably to accept an invitation to serve as Ravenel’s replacement pending the outcome of the charges.

Now, there’s a shocker. If you didn’t see this coming, you haven’t spent any time out on King Street. Wonder how Andre is feeling today. You don’t think Thomas will roll on his buddies to save his self, do you?

This is going to be fun.

That’s how Thomas Ravenel rolls.

Hey Fits,

If T-Rav were to resign this week, wouldn’t Sanford be outa luck and the Gen. Assembly by popular vote would elect the replacement?

OK, OK, I found it, I should probably do something valuable with my time instead, but apparently under Article VI Section 8 paragraph 2 the governor can suspend him temporarily – but there are still some interesting constitutional questioning abounding here.

The most talented figure in South Carolina public life goes down in flames.

It’s time to end this bullshit drug war.

There’s no reason that the American people should be paying for Mr. Ravenel’s rent while this perfectly harmless, decent, and respectable man rots in prison.

Maybe the Republican Party will finally wise up, wake up, and grow up.

Silence from the stunned moral majority…

Personal pain and suffering is not a laughing matter. Thomas may have “made his bed”, but good and honorable people should have concern for him. As a Christian I will pray for him..to heal and to grow.

If he broke the law he will have to pay a legal price…but a soul in need is a different matter. Best wishes for peace…from my household to Thomas Ravenel.

So, you’re saying you’ve never done an alligator tail with T-Rav? Somehow, I find it hard to believe that this was all under the radar.

Was it really crack? I thought that was the poor man’s coke. He ain’t no poor man. I mean come on Will, isn’t this story “juicy” enough without you having to spin it with the usual embellishment and lily gilding?

Can’t wait to see T-Rav rollin into Promises with Lindsey Lohan

terry, I doubt the price T-Rav will pay will be as high as the price paid by a poor coke user with no connections.
